Obama promises more outreach to GOP (you can't make this shit up)
President Barack Obama told GOP leaders behind closed doors Tuesday that he had failed to reach across party lines enough during his first two years in office, a senior administration official told CNN.

He promised to do a better job of bipartisan outreach in the days ahead, the official added.

"The president said he had to do better, and the president is ready to do his part," the official said.

The list of attendees at Obama's long-awaited post-election meeting with the newly empowered congressional Republicans included Vice President Joe Biden, Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, House Minority Leader John Boehner, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

His people aren't listening to us. They are deaf to our pleas for the President to grow a spine.

And people here try to fuck with those of us who aren't blind followers.

1. He doesn't get it. He won't get it.
I'm not even sure he's capable of getting it.

He's not the guy.

19. He never was that guy.
He's a man of compromise and collaboration. It's failed him all the way to the top.

Given the type of racially charged attacks that have been leveled against Obama.

Not accusing you of that by any means, but still your post could be read in that direction.

7. Obama is too tough on himself
He hasn't been perfect, but he's made a good effort. I think the Republicans are starting to realize that Obama is a good partner, and with a little more hard work, they'll start to feel safe and trusting.

9. It's not enough to disagree anymore. We need
a challenger to rally around very soon. If Obama and the DNC are thinking we only have the choice of him in 2012, then we need to show them both how very wrong they are and the sooner the better.

14. We need to stop reaching across party lines damn it!
Reaching across the first time? Birther movement.

Reaching across the second time? Glenn Beck.

Reaching across third time? Tea party.

The simple fact is we need to stop reaching across the party lines. We need to be like Caesar Milan and treat them like dogs. Tsst! Tsst! Tsst!

:) it's nice to focus on my Barbaras. hopefully we'll replace DiFi with someone even more liberal!

as long as i can keep my happy spot of the world flaming liberal, the rest of the country can figure out what they want to do.

win or lose the prez for 2012, i can't possibly be bothered. i'm not involved in the Democratic primary selection, so it's not my fight. besides, there's lots of grassroots things to do elsewhere.

18. Every time the president turns around to talk about his...
bipartisanship efforts, the Repugnants en mass declare war on him...publicly. Apparently he is so disconnected with reality and poorly advised(by whom?)that he can't see what is happening to this country.

Had we wanted an appeaser, we certainly could have found a better candidate.

'They' march in lockstep. They intend to block any bill they don't like--doesn't matter that the country may need the bill to get out of this financial gridlock we are in.

23. true. worked the polls, republicans are efficient little soldiers...
Edited on Wed Dec-01-10 05:59 AM by NuttyFluffers
they are up by 7am lining up ready to vote by 8am and then off to work. i really wish democrats had the same discipline -- come hell or highwater, get up and go vote (even if you hate one or two of your candidate choices -- just abstain that race alone, then). it might be a personality thing. and it's about the only "virtue" i can think of among the republican party.

oh well, can't save everybody, especially if i can't even save myself. spending so much emotional energy on fearing the bad cop and frustrated with the good cop doesn't do much to help. better to reinvest my time in me and my community. :)

(by the way, i really liked that Harlem Globe Trotters vs. Washington Generals analogy i saw somewhere in GD. very apropos.)

26. The GOP used that against him in the strongest way possible with their new letter. Surprised?
Edited on Wed Dec-01-10 11:03 AM by Parker CA
They're going to continue doing everything they can to undermine Obama until he actually stands up and faces their obstruction head-on and doesn't fold or immediately take the weaker of the two stances.

This is getting pretty sad. We're being completely run over by these mf'ers and so far, we've got no message or action in retaliation.

31. So, after 8 years of the most openly corrupt presidential administration
in modern history, we see OUR SIDE bending over backwards and them ever MORE to appease who again? Oh right, corporate criminals that seem immune to American laws. WHY? WHY cater to known criminals or the party they originated from? This is madness, but hey I am just a DFH so I will stfu and sitdown now. :eyes:
