Damn.....I just want Obama to learn his damn lesson, the GOP will not compromise! |
|
Edited on Tue Nov-30-10 10:26 PM by KansasVoter
How long will it take him to learn that they will never work with him?
I commend his first 6 months of trying, but at some point you just look like an idiot when you keep trying.
Rachel basically said that tonight on her show. And you know the GOP is having a blast with this.
Wow, I hope it sinks in at some point.

he is clearly not a stupid man so the only other alternative is HE LIKES WORKING WITH THOSE BASTARDS, APPROVES OF THE RESULTS and has NO INTENTION OF CHANGING HIS WAYS

Especially given that OFA wants us to approve of federal pay freeze. What the hell? Austerity measures championed by libertarians are not going to help the economy do anything but continue to spiral down setting the GOP up so they can say dems did nothing to improve the economy in 2012.

10. As in he shares some of their views and less we thought of ours. |
|
In other words, maybe he is more conservative than we figured or knows Democratic Senators are. Thus talk of bipartisanship where there clearly isn't any.

One must wonder!
I love the President and don't mean this in any way that can be construed as negative. He does have a thing about working with both sides like Abraham Lincoln did but that cannot be what is driving him, could it?

11. It's said that Lincoln died with Confederate money in his pocket |
|
He truly was curious about his opposition. And maybe he was moved by their passion.
But Lincoln did NOT seek "bipartisan solutions" with the people who wanted him destroyed.
That's the difference here.

They will not compromise. Period. That means Obama can't really get anything passed. Believe me, he knows that. There is nothing he can do about it. Yelling and screaming won't help. Calling them names won't help. They're not going to budge.
I don't know that he looks like an idiot trying. He looks better than them, above them. You know, turn the other cheek and all that. He campaigned on the idea that the nation had to come together and that the old red state/blue state thing and Washington games had to end. He's keeping up his end of the bargain; they are not playing. I honestly don't know what the alternative is.

To me, given the Republicans' determined obstructionism, it looks worse for him to raise a ruckus and then (inevitably) lose to them.

So we're just down to a matter of style.
You think the President can get anything passed he wants if he only yells loud enough? Completely untrue.

16. Obama actually has known they wouldn't compromise since Feb 2009, and he has said as much. |
|
Edited on Wed Dec-01-10 06:06 AM by BzaDem
That's why Healthcare passed with exactly 60 votes and not a vote more, the Stimulus passed with exactly 60 votes and not a vote more, and FinReg passed with exactly 60 votes and not enough more.
There are a few things he needs to compromise with them on (such as passing a continuing resolution to fund the government, ensuring the middle class tax cuts don't expire, passing unemployment benefits) but other than that, this is just an act to convince moderates that Obama is trying. It's just a campaign stunt for the moderates who he'll need to win re-election. I don't know why you get so frustrated over it.

Obama *knows* the GOP will not compromise. That is a piece of Kabuki theater intended to trick some of us into believing that he's reeeeelly trying to do what the nation wants and needs, but the GOP just won't let him.
He's getting *exactly* the legislation he wants. Or he could care less about the exact legislation because he and his are set. He just wants to show he got something done. Anything. At any cost.
Sorry, but you've been had. We all were. Obama is an elephant dressed like a donkey.
