It's always the same reaction from repukes. If you cut taxes on the rich, they'll re-invest that money into their companies, hire more workers, etc. Well if that's the case, then why haven't they been taking advantage of the Bush tax cuts to do just that? I think that's a very valid question.

2. +100. why aren't they talking that point up to the skies?
it's so obvious, but the party worthies keep mum & act as if the pubs' propaganda about tax cuts pumping up the economy is gospel.

11. That's also why you never really heard anything about single payer.
Democratic leaders ensured it never got a fair hearing in the court of public opinion, because they wanted to perpetuate the status quo - particularly where insurance companies are concerned.

12. Well, the MSM is certainly not going to allow viewers to hear/see Dems protesting this.
They rely on the millions and millions of dollars of revenue from the very entities that are lobbying for tax cuts.

Just because you haven't "heard" the Dems protesting, doesn't mean that they're not.

4. Did Bush sell the cuts as an economy fixer?
I thought he sold it as more of a "you deserve to spend your own money" sort of thing.

6. that was the $300 bone-toss checks
he sold the tax cuts as a fix for everything; repukes are two-trick ponies: tax cuts and wars

9. It's been the republican mantra for years
Reagan perpetuated this myth with his whole "trickle down" bullshit, that tax cuts for the rich would somehow trickle down and benefit everyone else. They've been repeating that bullshit lie ever since.

7. Absolutely ...
And like Skittles, you have to wonder just WHY the fuck nobody mentions this ...

Hell ... After over 30 years of union busting, wage suppressing, CONSERVATIVE ECONOMIC POLICY - Just where the fuck has that brought us ?

Let's take it one step further: Name a single instance where conservative economic policies have EVER created an environment where ALL segments of society had risen from the dust of need and want and enjoyed financial success across the board ? ....

Never happened anywhere, as far as I know ...

I swear ... Today's Dems are a useless appendage, unwilling to stand for citizens trying to eke out a reasonable living ...

My own children could form a better set of arguments ...

PITIFUL !

They should be at zero. Still didn't help? Maybe we should start giving them money.

Of course, :sarcasm:

10. Sarcasm for you...but there are some who would actually argue that
For example, I know that Neil Boortz has been advocating eliminating all corporate taxes. He thinks that giant corporations like Walmart, Microsoft, AT&T, etc shouldn't have to pay any taxes whatsoever.

17. Question is, why hasn't our "fourth estate" been asking
that very same question? Why do they merely tout we can't raise taxes during a recession ad nauseam, but they never mention the fact that Bush tax cuts for the wealthy have been the rule in this country for nearly a decade! Where are the jobs Senator McConnell? Where are they Rep Cantor? Where are they Rep Boner? Show us the net jobs created in the past ten years that the Bush tax cuts benefited the uber-rich and I might believe they have a point.

But the Corporate Media are only interested in Obama's low poll numbers, and Bush's book tour, and the Democratic Congress having failed to pass a bill to extend unemployment benefits {without mentioning that ALL Republicons voted against it!}.

He who has the bullhorn gets heard, and the big American media bullhorn is not educating the people with clear, concise facts.

20. People - we can trace the modern movement to reduce taxes for the wealthy back to Regan.
Some marginal increases during the Clinton administration, and then the bush gave away the store.

It has been demonstrated again and again, when you don't tax capital gains and allow unlimited tax sheltering, corporations and the wealthy have no incentive to invest and create industry. They sit on their cash and live off the dividends.

23. Tax cuts SOUND good, and with repetition it sounds even better.
A Republican politician will tell you he wants to be in office because he hates government. What the hell? Its like saying I should get a mechanic that hates cars or a pediatrician that hates children. They rule by emotion not facts.

24. Our tax code is one answer
As currently structured, it rewards companies that outsource overseas. The House passed legislation to fix that, but status in the Senate is uncertain.
