In a meeting with Republican leaders yesterday, President Obama told them to "work out a compromise" on tax cuts with Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, a Wall Street insider who spends his days dealing with millionaires instead of regular people.

Did Americans elect Geithner in 2008? Or Obama, who clearly promised to repeal the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy?

We found footage of that campaign promise, and today we're using it in a new TV ad telling Obama to fight the Republicans on this issue.

Click here to see our new TV ad -- and chip in $4 to air it this week in DC.

Our ad also includes devastating video of House Republican leader John Boehner admitting he would cave if President Obama fought hard on this issue.

When Democrats stand with 98% of Americans and Republicans stand with only the wealthiest 2%, it's absolutely insane for Democrats to be obsessed with "compromise."

This is a winnable fight for Democrats -- if Obama keeps his promise and fights!

Help make sure the White House sees this message by chipping in $4 air this new ad in DC.

We'll run this ad as long as regular people keep funding it. So please donate what you can and pass this email to others. Thanks for being a bold progressive.

3. If the tax cuts for the top 2% were allowed to expire now
then Obama would be able to veto any attempt by the Republicans to reinstate them in the next Congress, wouldn't he?

In this Congress, he could force the Senate Republicans to filibuster the extension of tax cuts for the middle class, while letting the top ones expire - if they dare. Without anything passing, then all the cuts expire. But the Democrats could position themselves to say "we wanted to extend the middle class cuts - it was the Republicans who refused unless we gave their rich supporters extra money as well".

2. I think too many Democrat in Congress are over 250k
and don't want their taxes raised. The tax cuts for the rich will be extended.

5. So they're targeting Obama instead of Boehner and the Republicans?
Great, one more "progressive" group spreading discontent against Obama for their own gain. We've had enough of that self destructive shit for the past two years.

6. They are targeting the American people by reminding them of Obama's promises.
Apparently you wish for no pressure to be applied at all to the Democrats/Obama on this issue.. IMO that is what spreads discontent and self destructive shit..
