2. Hmmmmm. I think the GOP thinks they have nothing to lose and playing poker
to the hilt, and making it a psychological game.

They have won so many hands with this President that they are going to play the hand that brung em this far.

5. Have you emailed the White House?
Republicans won't ratify the START treaty, nor will they pass the Defense Omnibus bill, thus putting our national security at risk. They're doing this because they want more money for the rich?

30. Americanss will NOT wake up and see them for what they are, because the Dems
will not make the case to the public. Dems always let the Republicans frame the issues, so Dems always get blamed for Republicans' screw-ups.

12. NO!!! Put up a fucking bill that extends tax cuts for the bottom 98% - just like he said he would.
Let the tax cuts expire, yes, but still put a new bill for "Obama's tax cuts".

Call the Republicans out for raising taxes if they don't vote for it.

Time to quit being pussies and start going on the offensive.

15. It's an absolute no brainer...
I am in total disbelief at the level of cluelessness in President Obama and the DEMOCRATICALLY controlled congress. They seem to be proud of their total cowardice and stupidity. I have never seen a weaker president in my life. It's so disappointing to continue to watch as our president surrenders to the very enemy who almost destroyed our country. A great title for a book about this presidency would be 'SQUANDERED'.

27. The Lines In The Sand Are Drawn
Anyone who believed in the "bipartisanship" yesterday should feel the fool...especially inside the White House (yet again).

There are two lines being drawn here. As expected the rushpublicans want their tax cuts and nothing else. Screw the unemployed, screw DADT, screw getting budgets passed...the rich want their cuts and the whip has been cracked. There is no compromise...and if this administration thinks their is then they're reached the other line..

...and that line is with a disenchanted base that is getting angrier and more frustrated the more this administation "oompromises". Here's a clue...the rich have plenty of deductions and shelters that most never pay anywhere near what their rate is. If they do, they should hire a good accountant. Many have "losses" to counteract the gains be it at 28 or 35 or 50$. I know, I'm one of them.

Let the cuts expire, period. Enough of this horseshit is enough. No extensions, no raising the limits...stand ground or be prepared to see support from the base fade away.

29. Well, this works ONLY if the Dems then have the sense to actually
inform the public about what is going on. But the Dems seldom do that. They always let the Republicans frame the issue in a way that makes it look like it's all the Dems' fault, and then the Dems get screwed in the elections.

34. don't forget
the democrats TRY to inform the people. the media are not on our side. it's too easy to blame the democrats imo. listen to NPR for a day. you might end up thinking that there are no democrats in congress. it is frustrating yes, but i don't think it's 100% for lack of trying.

please don't take this comment to mean that i am supportive of obama's public statements touting bipartisanship! it's way past time for that pie in the sky.

I do understand that the right wing OWNS the major media outlets and therefore they find it much, much easier to get their version of the issues out to the public, but can't our side even try to frame the issues the way they really are? Pelosi manages to from time to time, and so do Sanders, Dean, and a few other Dems, but for the most part the Dems with the best chance of getting their framing heard by the public (like, you know, the president) quietly accept the most fraudulent, damaging right wing framing of every issue.
But when we do hear most Dems on TV or the radio, especially Obama, they say things that assume the Republicans' premises (like when Obama accepts blame for supposedly not reaching out enough to be bipartisan!).

38. i listen to NPR in my car to and from work
about an hour and 15 min. a day. i am absolutely convinced that they play only the sound bites that portray the right favorably. i don't know how many times i've found myself screaming at the radio in my car! seriously you would think there wasn't a democrat in the government.

when they do quote a dem it's something wimpy or fucked up, like recently, the one being quoted saying that raising the retirement age was something he would agree to do.

we all know there's more going on than what we're allowed to see by the corporate media (i include NPR in this assessment).

we'd think based on what we hear from corporate media that all obama is doing is licking the asses of the republicans. i actually do not believe that to be true. and again, please don't take this to mean that i agree with his stubborn and foolish assertions that bipartisanship is even possible in 2010, with this president and these fucking republicans.

39. Bush put a lot of rightwingers into powerful positions in the
NPR bureacracy. Those people are still there, just as Bush's people are still running the show to a large degree in the Justice Department and as US Attorneys all over the country.

Unlike most presidents, Obama didn't clean house and install his own people when he came in. He even let that extreme RW female US Attorney (I forget her name) get away with simply refusing to submit her resignation when she was supposed to. She just decided she wouldn't let him have the position to fill with his own appointee, and she got away with it!

Also, a lot of jobs require Senate approval, so of course the Rethugs are automatically stonewalling his appointees--and unlike Bush, he normally won't make recess appointments when the Rethugs do that. It's as though he is afraid of their disapproval!

The Rethugs are also preventing him from appointing judges to the federal bench, though that is a president's prerogative. They put secret holds on his appointments all the time, too. It is just disgusting, but I do think he could do more to prevent them from getting away with what they do. Bush often did end runs around the Dems, and the Dems were not even usually recalcitrant about approving his appointees!

I realize that often he and other key Dems cannot get their message past the MSM gatekeepers, but when he does say something that we get to hear, it is almost always a Right Wing frame, like that BS about being more bipartisan and taken blame for not reaching out enough to Republcians.

31. Email the White House??? Obama has no respect for "the online audience"
More than 100,000 questions were submitted, with the idea Obama would answer those that were most popular. But after 3.6 million votes were cast, one of the top questions turned out to be a query on whether legalizing marijuana might stimulate the economy by allowing the government to regulate and tax the drug.

"I don't know what this says about the online audience," Obama said in the session in the East Room, drawing a laugh from his live audience, which included teachers, nurses and small-business people. "The answer is no, I don't think that is a good strategy to grow the economy."

In the end, Obama answered only six questions submitted online.
