Last summer, Congress passed legislation to compensate servicemembers who were stop-lossed after September 11, 2001. IAVA had been fighting for this provision for over a year, and now the deadline to apply for payments is fast-approaching.

1. Have a copy of your DD-214 and your DD-4 (enlistment contract) easily accessible.
2. Go to www.defense.gov/stoploss.
3. Find the link for your branch at the top right of the site and follow the instructions.

my kid is still waiting...and he applied months ago.(I advised him to reapply,just to be safe...kinda tough to do in Afghanistan,tho)
