NOW TELL ME AGAIN HOW AMERICA IS A CHRISTIAN NATION????
Edited on Thu Dec-02-10 01:54 AM by KBlagburn
Today Republicans blocked a bill that would help feed hungry children. Today 2 million ppl lost thier unemployment. Today Repubs said they will block any and all bills until the millionaires get a tax break. Now somebody tell me this: a fam...ily gets food stamps, or unemployment check, or free school lunch, or a free visit to the doctor via medicaid and Republicans say they are lazy. The top 2 % of rich ppl get at least $100,000.00 a year free from the govt, and the repubs say they deserve it. NOW TELL ME AGAIN HOW AMERICA IS A CHRISTIAN NATION????

I work 50-55 hours a week and am still below the poverty line. They want to give a millionaire an amount equal to 4 times what I make annually. I have friends and family who honestly believe if someone starves to death or freezes to death, they should have gotten a job or worked harder. They believe only the strongest should survive. Yet they profess to be Christian. Their taxes should not go to help poor ppl but its ok to help millionaires. They profess to know the bible. The problem is, is they may know the bible, but are so ignorant of what Jesus taught.
Its dumbfounding. They can quote anti-gay scripture but they forget scripture where Jesus says to help the poor, the hungry and the sick. I know a lot of ppl who are going to be very dissapointed on judgement day.

They give Christianity a bad name!!!!

In full disclosure, I am a Christian and proud to proclaim it. But I refuse to be associated with ppl like this!!!!

Edit to add: I am a decorated combat veteran. My health is screwed up for the rest of my life due to my 7 years service and they think it is only worth $123.00 per month disability.

4. The U.S. is not a Christian nation, but one where most of the religious claim to be Christian
although God would disclaim knowledge of very many of them who lead lives that are anything but Christlike.

5. Yes. You're confusing "Christianity" with "doing what Jesus said."
They're not remotely the same.

War? Hell yeah.

Capital Punishment? Damn straight!

Starve the poor? They have it coming.

Oh, yeah, we're a Christian nation, and that means killings, war, and harsh treatment of the needy.

6. America may well be a Christian country
Christians have been slaughtering people for centuries - just ask those native Americans.

Greedy men will always remain greedy.

7. Perhaps demographically it is. But the Constitution determines how we
make laws, how our courts dole out "justice", and we live our lives unmolested by religion, not Jesus and the misinterpretations of his directives.

10. lol, Christianity gives itself a bad name, schizophrenics talk to Jesus all the fucking time
the truth is, most religious folk don't actually believe in "god" or a spirit, they like the community aspect and are just wracked with doubt because they live in a fucking society which allows monuments to insipid myths to be built

12. I'm astounded by the change in the definition of "Christian" these days
When I was young, if you heard the statement "Now THERE's a good Christian", it meant that the person was:

1. Honest
2. Generous
3. Forgiving
4. And generally, courteous, empathetic and level-headed.

These days, I hear someone describe themselves as a "good Christian" and I quickly check for my wallet and look for the nearest exit.
