A prayer vigil was held Wednesday in downtown Detroit for Aretha Franklin, a day before organizers say the singing legend is to undergo a medical procedure.

Last month, Franklin said she was canceling her concerts and appearances through May.

Franklin said in a statement that "all prayers are good." Spokeswoman Tracey Jordan said she had no comment on the singer's condition or any possible medical procedures.

6. Just Saw Her On TV The Other Day...

...doing a begathon for PBS. While I love me lots of Aretha and have since the 60s, she's definitely added some more pounds and at her age that can't be a good thing. She's had health problems in the past that, from what I've read, are the root of her current complications. Looking at her she reminded me of the late Mahalia Jackson (surely an Aretha role model)...and hope she is able to beat this latest health challenge. The lady is made of tough stuff.
