Fucking Orlando Sentinel---Sheriff: Lesbian affair preceded Christy Martin attack
Edited on Thu Dec-02-10 07:10 AM by trumad

Not only is the headline despicable... but the comments about this story are laced with the typical bigoted bullshit you'd see in this neck of the woods.

Christy came very very close to losing her life and this rag of a newspaper thinks it's important to say it was because she was having a "Lesbian" affair.

Kind of like--- well there you go--- she deserved it!

Christy Martin leaving husband for woman at time of attack
James Martin is accused of stabbing and shooting the professional boxer.

A violent attack on famous boxer Christy Martin by her husband, James, was preceded by her announcement that she was leaving him for a woman, according to Orange County Sheriff's Office records.

1. What I see is that her husband went beserk and stabbed her...
and is also described as stalking her. Where does it say she deserved it?

3. You misinterpreted my meaning
Who cares if she had a "Lesbian" affair....really---why mention that at all especially in a headline.

It's like oh---well there you go---that's why he went berserk---

2. Orlando has changed a lot. I think they will get hammered by the local GLBTQ community for that
40 years ago, I would have not said that. In 2010, they will get hammered and probably lose revenue because of it. Just my hunch.

4. She was suspected by her husband of having a relationship with another
person, in this case a woman. Otherwise, the headline could have read "...another man..." Perhaps the writer is simply guilty of too much information.

Note later in the article "...flagged down a passer-by in an Isuzu..." more info not necessarily needed. How is the make of the vehicle important to the story? Perhaps a ploy to ire the "buy American" readers?

11. If that were the case, the headline would have read "Affair Preceded Attack"

There was a clear intention to make an issue out of her sexual orientation here.

5. well, if they feel that an "affair" was more than enough cause for a husband to nearly kill
his wife ...

then why is Newt Gingrich still alive? I mean, shouldn't his wife been allowed to kill him? At least by these people's standards ...

8. Was she wearing "provocative" clothing, thereby asking for it?
:sarcasm:

9. Well, if she didn't want to get shot, why wasn't she wearing a bullet-proof vest?
Seems like her non-bullet-proof clothes meant she was asking for it. :sarcasm:
