Rather than partake in a sequence of holiday festivities, a group of 40 or so unemployed New Yorkers marched in protest during the ever popular Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Tuesday night in Manhattan.
Instead of lighting a Christmas tree, the protesters simply prefer to be able to light their homes.
“Just in time for Christmas, people are going to lose their only lifeline that’s let them hold on to a semblance of the life they knew,” said protest organizer Sam Talbot to the New York Daily News. “We want to remind people there’s a serious crisis going on.”
Check this out.
As part of the protest, some people wore Santa hats while carrying large signs that read “Keep the Lights on for the Unemployed” and “We Need Jobs Not Another Korean War.” They were even heard chanting “Merry Christmas! You’re fired!” on more than one occasion.
Yes, my friends. Armageddon is near.
