A serious question about the aborted appointment of Judd Gregg
We all surely recall Obama announcing that he wanted to appoint Judd Gregg to his cabinet. We all surely also recall Judd Gregg declining in the most mean spirited way anyone can imagine being done to a new US president.

So here is the question: Who vetted the appointment?

Really. Who so ill served their president as to bring that guy onto the same podium as Obama?

1. I honestly think that took the administration by surprise--that even "friendly" Republicans

with whom Obama had worked in the past would turn on him publicly and embarrass him. I was surprised too, at the time--usually cross-party appointments are treated as an honor, in my memory. Edit to add: that was when it started to become apparent that they had declared war on the administration.

Juddhead showed his Republicon Family Values colors several years ago when he tossed a sick elderly widow from her home in the midst of winter so he could jack up the monthly take on his rental dump.

3. I think part of the motivation was to get the 60th Dem seat if
Gregg was replaced by a Dem governor.

However, you raise a very interesting question...

4. Gregg was "on board", but probably got a tongue-lashing
from his cronies, and then reneged...or maybe he planned to do it all along. He's a weasel-y guy..
