Juan Williams told Fox News' Megyn Kelly that extended unemployment benefits are harmful to peoples'
work ethic and basic values.....

The two were speaking about the fight over the extension of the benefits on Thursday's "America Live." Kelly told Williams that a man she knows is staying on unemployment because his jobless benefits bring him more money than a potential job.

"To me it's crazy because the longer that person is unemployed the more difficult it is then for them to get a job," Williams said. He continued:

"Because employers, potential employers, will look and see that gee, they've been out forever, it doesn't make sense. And I think that's partly playing in to this cycle. And at some point then it becomes a matter of you lose your work ethic, your values are impacted, you know, getting up, showing up, dressing well, all that good stuff. So I don't know that that's smart.

7. Uh oh, you are using the weapon of logic
Williams and his ilk are impervious to logic.

Anyone want to defend his firing now? Anyone?

3. Megyn Kelly is an idiot.
And probably a liar, to boot. She said this friend of hers makes $400/week, and doesn't look for a job at Starbucks because he couldn't make "that kind" of money at Starbucks. Somehow I do not believe it. I think she's making it up.

it might perhaps become clear to her that she is not employed as a result of her intellectual heft.

unemployment....and people do not question that state of affairs...why employers pay less than unemployment. But, hell no, lets not question that! No wonder the haves do not want the peasants educated, they might revolt

9. Williams and the self made assholes don't understand facts
1. Unemployment payments boost the economy.

2. They save jobs, something we are in desparate need of.

3. They are short term investments in our nation.

Oh, and by the way, they are the human "Christian" thing to do.

I wish I could wave a wand and these people could be homeless for one week. Even then, they wouldn't learn any compassion.

Yeah, people want to be unemployed, sure. What jobs, where?

Peace,

16. OMG what an ass!
Does he truly think that being cut off from unemployment benefits will make people find jobs quicker? On what planet? Given that there are few jobs to be had in the first place, what it really means is that more and more people will be forced out of their homes and into destitution.

I hope that Juan Williams loses his money, loses his job and ends up having to sleep on the streets. I am dead serious: let him experience that which he advocates for others.

19. Yep, the simple fact is that there are NOT enough new jobs
to absorb millions of people kicked off unemployment -- even if they did take minimum wage, which isn't even enough to support one adult. Why aren't the reporters asking where these people will find work? Ending unemployment doesn't end the problem.

18. It's a shame we 99ers didn't all get a Faux Snooze job
the minute we were laid off.

I've been unemployed since 12/2008 and my employer would like to have me back at work
but he can't afford it yet. I am in a very niche job and it's all I've done for
the last 37 years. I bet others are in this same boat.

I would like nothing better than to get up, show up and "dress well" or....eat!
Stupid nasty man.

28. Actually it's quite possible.
An individual with a decent salaried job, say...36k or so per year, could have a potential part-time job at McDonald's. Of course, then there is the cost of paying the babysitter for some, the deduction of time to actually look for a REAL job, the fact that finding 2 part-time jobs to actually make the equivalent of a real job is nigh impossible, and so forth. However, the only thing the repukes are going to see is OMG SHE PASSED UP A JOB FOR UNEMPLOYMENT SEE THIS IS WHAT WE WERE SAYING IT MADE HER LAZY!

You have to be careful when simply saying things like 'it doesnt happen', because they'll hit you with that shit EVERY TIME. Remember, this is the same group of people who think 'nuance' is for losers.

Job Seekers Screwed As Businesses Refuse To Hire The Unemployed

http://www.businessinsider.com/job-seekers-screwed-as-businesses-refuse-to-hire-the-unemployed-2009-6

And while we are on the subject of "work ethic and basic values", how about that Sarah Palin? Couldn't finish a term as governor of Alaska and hasn't done a lick of work since...that's a real good example she's setting there. :eyes:

My "work ethic" is just fine. I'm a working SOB, have been all my life. My "work ethic" is, pay me enough and I'll work my ass off, but don't expect to get something for nothing. It's high time that shit came to an end in this country. :grr:

our vocabulary...

With EXTREMELY RARE exceptions, people's jobs are TAKEN FROM THEM by their employers...

The term "lost her/his job" is designed to blame the victim instead of the vampire capitalist who fucked the worker over by TAKING AWAY THEIR LIVELIHOOD...

Next lesson: Theft of the Commons...
