2. Exactly.
Why does not everyone in the US understand that?

It is a monumental and immoral failure of the media.

3. Propaganda 101 - the 'big lie'
The Big Lie

The Big Lie (German: Große Lüge) is a propaganda technique. The expression was coined by Adolf Hitler, when he dictated his 1925 book Mein Kampf, for a lie so "colossal" that no one would believe that someone "could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously." Hitler believed the technique was used by Jews to unfairly blame Germany's loss in World War I on German Army officer Erich Ludendorff.

7. Several years ago a Republican friend fed me that exact line: that the rich create jobs
with their tax cuts. Right, so where are the jobs?

8. Us liberals must have done something to send them away...
Republicans tend to reject information that does not fit their narrative so they will probably not engage in this questioning and move on to one of their talking points. I was watching Rachel and she was showing a clip of some Republican congressman being questioned about the unemployment insurance extension. The panelist, I believe it was on Morning Joe, asked the congressman whether unemployment payment were typically spent and part of the economy. The congressman said, "OOOOOh!, I see, you think that spending drives the economy?" as if he had just won the debate hands down. I sat there thinking, "Why YES, spending does drive the economy. What moron thinks that we can have any kind of economy without spending?" It just seemed so ridiculous that he was there gloating as if he had just exposed someone who believed in Peter Pan or fairies.

This cognitively challenged congressman thinks that "job creators" create jobs. I thought, what jobs can be created if no one is purchasing any products? No one is going to hire anyone to produce products that no one is going to buy. It just makes sense, but this guy seemed so sure that if you gave the wealthy tax breaks that they would hire people. The wealthy tend to be shrewd, driven, some might say greedy, but one thing they are not is economically stupid. They know that no demand equals no supply and no supply means no hiring.

I went from surprised to pissed off, because unless this guy is a complete idiot, he knows that too, and he is just lying to convince some less bright people like say, tea party people, that the heart of the problem is taxes going up for the richest people.

it's the economic equivalent of creationism - but, but, I want to believe that giving money to the rich and refusing to fund govt spending for infrastructure is true... my cult leader told me it was true!

13. Where ever the profit margin is the fattest.
And that ain't here.

How many counties and cities gave big corporations local tax breaks because of the jobs that were brought with their activity? Is there no recourse on this ground to get some of that back?

19. To be fair to idiotic right wingers
Which is wrong, I know, but they honestly believe that when money is in the economy it inspires investment. The rich can't keep their money under a mattress - if it goes into the bank then the bank has money to lend, etc. They think that money in government hands is in a black hole, however. They are stuck on the supply side without realizing that no one is going to make products no one can afford to buy.

Which is why they will eventually have to stop going to China and India - at some point the savings there will be irrelevant. We have to be able to buy the stuff. The Chinese can't or won't want it.

tariffs, tax incentives, etc.

I think Americans fail to recognize that there are far more "consumers" overseas with lots of cash flow. We are no longer as relevant, hence the transnational corporations' disregard for our ability to purchase their products. They've moved on, by and large, to new middle-class economies elsewhere.

But, I get what you're saying.

Employers hire people when they NEED people - the tax cut creates job canard is as dumb as it gets, but millions of dittoheads making 40K a year fall for it every day.
