this is unacceptable, I have to find out the next time he's in chicago and go have a talk with him. (I have an inside source, I actually interviewed him for a government class paper I wrote a couple of semesters ago.)

Tell him we are only in that position because of Bush' tax cuts. Reverse them, and we will get out of this nightmare.

Otherwise, we'd be looking at this gun grabbing, crying on the Senate floor pissant as Majority Leader.

he's made comments about liberals having to give things up. He's an Obama buddy so he's in his pocket.

10. Pass it? Doesn't matter |
|
The vote's coming after the commission has disbanded, the commission has missed its own deadline, and the won't get no 14 votes. And none of it matters. What matters is that in the public perception, this will be the "final report" of the commission. The Republicans will seize on the most punitive recommendations (raising the retirement age, cutting social security benefits for future retirees). Their pals in the popular media will jump on board the noise wagon, emphasizing the "bipartisan" nature of the millionaires who recommend these "deficit cutting" measures to be foisted on the underclass, and how it's the President's own commission members who made the recommendation. Democrats will feel they have no choice, presented with the united voices of the yammerers in the Republican ranks and the dimbulbs in the media, and capitulate.

9. I Called His Office In D.C. Today..... |
|
I asked when he was up for re-election. I thought he was coming up in 2012. I was told he will be up in 2014. I told them if he votes to support the deficit commission that he's lost my vote. I met the man in D.C. two years ago. I actually like him - but - there is a limit to what I will put up with and it looks like he's going beyond my limit.
If he does support the deficit commission we need to make sure that we have another Dem candidate in waiting to run against him for 2014.
I guess he feels that 2014 is a long way off and he's got cover so he'll support the deficit commission.
We already lost one senate seat to the Repugs in Illinois. Obama's old seat went to that liar Kirk.
I'd hate to lose Durbin's seat to a Repug - so we need a strong Dem challenger for Durbin in the primary.
Any ideas as to who? whom?
