GOSHEN — The lineup is usually pretty drab whenever Orange County auctions off properties it has seized for nonpayment of taxes: a bunch of vacant land parcels and maybe a handful of others that have anything at all built on them.

Not so this year.

About 20 homes are among the 116 foreclosed parcels for sale at 10 a.m. Tuesday when the county holds its annual auction at the Government Center.

Some are old and dilapidated. But others are quite attractive — and going for bargain prices. snip

Each house in this state of peril bears its own unique tale of financial hardship. But a single reason has brought them all to the auction block: Their owners have failed to pay property taxes for more than two years.

3. Wow! If this could somehow be blamed on president Obama I am sure there would be 30 or 40 Recs
I guess if people lose their homes and it can't be blamed on him it just ain't worth talking about.

Interesting.

5. The article mentions one specific case in which the home was foreclosed already
and was bank-owned. The bank failed to pay property taxes on it and the county seized it. A $300K+ property taken by the county over a tenth of that amount in property tax. Hard to work up much sympathy for that particular property owner zapped by forfeiture to the county. Actually, that's the *only* specific case the article gets into. So there's really just not much red meat to the story.
