So, as the GOP seeks to "shrink" the public sector, what is its plan for increasing jobs in the |
|
private sector? Every person displaced in the public sector adds to the unemployment rolls. They also have no plan for forcing some of those trillions of dollars the banks and the wealthy are sitting on back into the economy in the form of either investments or jobs. For now, the GOP is about to create a new round of increased unemployment, in my opinion.

8. No, no, you've got it all wrong |

As these people lose their jobs in the wasteful public sector, the Free Market Fairy will magically transform them into jobs in the efficient, wealth-creating private sector. Money will rain down from the heavens and the resulting prosperity will ensure that everyone has a hice house with a swimming pool, two cars in the garage and all the non-socialized healthcare they need.
I'm exaggerating the right's arguments, but not by much.

1. Outsource government services to friends, family and benefactors 2. Hire 50% of the original staff back in the new company at 25% of the wages 3. Gradually outsource those jobs to a tax-friendly country 4. Fire the remaining staff, guaranteeing an ever-rising pool of people who rely on your former-public service 5. Rub hands with glee as lower tax revenues mean further outsourcing and privatization 6. Retire to cosy directorship on the board of your new company 7. Profit.
