Orwell Rolls In His Grave: Documentary on corporate media
Just in case anyone hasn't seen this video already. This video explores the one thing the media doesn't like to talk about - itself. Filmmaker Robert Kane Pappas has brought together a former 60-Minutes producer, Congressman Bernie Sanders, Michael Moore, Greg Palast, Danny Schecter (former producer for ABC and CNN), as well as some of the country's leading intellectual voices on the media to examine the mix of businesses, politics and ideology that is our modern mainstream media.

Does the corporate media reflect public opinion or create it? This video moves through a troubling list of questions and news stories that go unanswered and unreported in the mainstream media. Are Americans being given the information a democracy needs to survive or have they been electronically lobotomized?

Are Americans being sold a bill of goods by a handful of transnational media corporations and political elites whose interest have little in common with the interests of the American people? Watch "Orwell Rolls in His Grave."

7. Good grief...
I had never read "1984" until talking heads started referring to the Bush adm. as "Orwellian." Now I list it as my favorite book.

Quick shots:
The Powell family is an abomination. The father's integrity went out the window when he lied about WMD. But that smug little shit son of his is cut from the same cloth as W. What's most remarkable is that attain high official positions and, when asked direct, probing questions, simply respond, "I don't know. How would I know? Should I know about that? I don't think so."

Also, Clinton's legacy gets battered once again. First I learn that he, Gramm, Summers, and Greenspan were responsible for allowing the derivatives markets to run wild, now I learn he's responsible for deregulating the FCC. And I haven't even mentioned NAFTA, GATT, or the WTO! Fucking Clinton!

4. There is no doubt in my mind, they create it, from the morning talk shows,

to the prime time broadcast news, to endless murder programs depicting dead bodies in every imaginable state, to their late night comedy.

There are too many common threads running through it all to be anything but programming the people.

Thanks for the thread, Xicano.
