1. Story on Tiffany denied by what is known as Brewercare Death Panels

Chandler Seton Catholic's girls basketball players knew their assistant coach had cystic fibrosis. But they didn't see the effects until they got up to 5,100 feet elevation in Prescott Valley last February to play in the state championship game.

By halftime, Tiffany Tate was hooked up to oxygen, gasping for air.

She was approved by the University Medical Center in Tucson last April and was put on a waiting list. In August, she said she received a letter from the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System, saying that she no longer would be covered.

After Oct. 1, AHCCCS stopped paying for lung transplants, part of nearly $4 million in savings to keep the state's form of Medicaid from operating in the red.

Tate felt she was given a death sentence.

Wow. That's a tough one. Got to be tough on the kids to go through that.

challenge to all DUers to donate whatever you can. It would be a very magical and miraculous Christmas to give Tiffany the funds she needs in order to receive a lung transplant that will improve her way of life.
