maybe he's intentionally trying to piss us off? |

so we will be angry enough to "force" him/them all to do what is right?
I'm feeling a little desperate here, reaching for SOME explanation...it just keeps getting worse

It's always darkest before the lights go completely out....or the light at the end of the tunnel is an oncoming trail. The name of the soap opera? AS THE STOMACH CHURNS.
When he kept Rick Warren on the program and Vilsack as Ag Secretary, even after all the calls for "No, don't do this", I knew we were knocking on a fake door.

8. Yes, right after the election |
|
it started. No matter what we asked, wrote, called about it was ignored. If anything I think it could be the 'false equivalency' thing, the comparing of the right wing loonies with the left who wanted him to be that historic change President. Ignoring his base is sort of a way in his mind of getting the independents to rally around him. He just appears weak though and like he doesn't really believe in anything or willing to fight for anything. He has abandoned the very things he won on and why those independent voters wanted him.

And that was hiring Elizabeth Warren, though only as an advisor to a committee or whatever. I think someone, at some time, whispered in his ear that he who wins the middle wins the election, and he took it to heart.

'center' or 'center right' but the independents that I know are more liberal than the dems we have in DC(and yes, disillusioned with the Democratic Party). So who knows the reality of what they really are it's the current perception whether factual or not. Maybe it's just their excuse for going to the right.

Now I get it. It's not that Obama promissed a bunch of things on which he has failed to deliver (some of which he now denies ever having promissed in the first place), it's not that he and his staff have repeatedly insulted progressives, and its not even that he's reached out to pacify the Repukes more often than he has for his much maligned base. NO!
It's just that some people WANT to feel pissed off. Things aren't bad enough for us, so we pick on poor president Obama, because that's how we get our jollies.
Did you forget the sarcasm tag, or did I just miss the very important memo where you explained what the hell you are talking about?

I also wonder if he's trying to FINALLY piss off the "Reagan Dems" who have lost everything, into railing against the ones they SHOULD have been railing against all along.
But I gotta tell you, I'm really getting tired of wondering if he's still playing three-dimensional chess.

I don't see much Democratic-ness going on with him at all. There's a whole lot of just-like-Bush-did going on but since he's wearing a misleading label, people who used to know better suddenly find merits in bankrupt policy.
The irony is that he ran on "change", but he stands as a testament to the futility of using the ballot box to effect change. This country couldn't have rejected Bush any more soundly than it did, but you would not know it from policy.

Perhaps you should just stick to the playground insults... Because your political analysis is pretty weak.
He's only presided over the most impressive set of *progressive* policy accomplishments in a half century
...opposed at every turn by the lock-step Repugs and defended nearly unanimously by Democrats in the government and in the electorate. Surely, that can't mean that he's a real "Democrat".

Factor.
Most likely the President is a conservative that isn't a Republican because he didn't want to live in the boonies, is black, and isn't a hardline regressive.
The present Republicans are not to be confused with conservative they are most certainly radical regressive corporate toadies.

32. that would be the post election winning formula |
|
independents left the president in droves that were behind his election in 2008. My theory is that in order to reel the middle back in, policies that will result in left wing outrage, angry headlines at HuffPo, special comments attacking the administration from Keith Olberman, sarcasm and smarminess from Rachel Maddow, and Mike Malloy channeling Howard Beale... all under the likely correct assumption that once they see a wide open republican presidential primary featuring candidates tearing each other limb from limb to out conservative each other, he'll by comparison look more appealing to the middle and more tolerable from the left.

He really needs some new advisors--they seem to be out of ideas and sticking with the Clinton playbook, and it will not work the same way this time. They're badly misjudging the tax-cut situation, and I'm not sure why they can't see the alarm bells going off all around them.

42. about Obama's "Grand Campaign": i don't know and i don't care. nor should i have to. |
|
he could be launching a defensive campaign against the underwear gnomes of zurich -- and i don't care.
we have real big problems and he has chosen not only not to fix them, but to make things worse. so, i'm done! i could care less about window dressing legislation when the house is on fire. and i have no need to defend my decision after that point.
he can go make speeches to an empty room for all i care -- i have other (grassroot) priorities.
