NYT's Blow: Palin is 'the Zsa Zsa Gabor of American politics'; ignore her
Source: New York Times

This is it. This is the last time I’m going to write the name Sarah Palin until she does something truly newsworthy, like declare herself a candidate for the presidency. Until then, I will no longer take part in the left’s obsessive-compulsive fascination with her, which is both unhealthy and counterproductive.

She’s the Zsa Zsa Gabor of American politics. She once did something noteworthy, but she’s now just famous for being famous.

... Yet the left continues to elevate her every utterance so that they can mock and deride her. The problem is that this strategy continues to backfire. The more the left tries to paint her as one of the “Mean Girls,” the more the right sees her as “Erin Brockovich.” The never-ending attempts to tear her down only build her up. She’s like the ominous blob in the horror films: the more you shoot at it, the bigger and stronger it becomes.

... As Politico’s editor in chief, John F. Harris, and its executive editor, Jim VandeHei, very candidly expressed in August: “More traffic comes from an item on Sarah Palin’s ‘refudiation’ faux pas than from our hundreds of stories on the complexities of health care reform or Wall Street regulation.”

1. He blames it all on the left's " obsession" with her?
What is he, afraid Scarborough won't invite him back to his show?

13. Yeah, I caught that, too... it's the RIGHT that's keeping her alive
so I don't know where he gets this thing about the left.

10. Thank you. This is BS. The Right has been very critical of Palin yet the keep financing her.
If they didn't she would be history. Who's buying her books in bulk? Why did I turn on the teevee randomly and see and hear how she is the best selling right wing author? When the right wants Palin to go she will go. Until then, the right will continue to prop her up.

12. It's a right wing talk radio line to blame the left for Palin.
Fucking moronic.

4. That is some pretty shotty analysis.
Her numbers are worse than ever. Granted she gets more money for every stupid thing that comes out of her mouth, but Erin Brockovich? Really? Her sychophants on the right will always support her just like they will always believe that Man and Dinosaur coexisted. The more exposure she gets to anyone with a modicum of intelligence, the more they see that she is an idiot.

6. Oh puleeez
The left has not elevated her. It is the media that cannot separate celebrity from important news.
If she did not have the looks she does, the head honchos at the networks would not have given her the time of day.
Also - the depth of understanding many American citizens have of issues more complex than a Palin tweet is zero. "I'm here now, entertain me!"

14. K&R - proves the NYT is no longer worth reading. The right and the MSM LOVE her
because she is a guaranteed cheap headline.

She is the talking dog of US politics.
