5. I suspect Feingold is against any tax cuts - he tends to be fiscally responsibile |
|
I think you will see him vote against extending all the tax cuts as well

14. but by voting no we'll end up stuck with welfare for the wealthy |
|
for at least two more years, and at the end of that Repubs may have it easy in making them permanent. Frankly, in this unbelievably shitty economy we can't afford two more years of this shit, and absolutely can't risk making them permanent or grossly extended even more.
I think it's apparent that it's already a done deal to extend the welfare for the wealthy in exchange for another year of unemployment benefits, and I can see Feingold voting no believing those unemployment benefits right now are more important.

11. Yes. And his rationale is that all Bush era tax cuts should expire as well as any |
|
attempt to pass tax cuts. Why? Because they do little to boost the economy. Unemployment benefits and jobs are what's needed.

13. Feingold is a deficit hawk, that is why he opposes this. Still |
|
Edited on Sat Dec-04-10 02:45 PM by ProSense
the Dems' position is that the middle class tax cuts have to be paid for. People can't claim that deficits don't matter and that we should be stimulating the economy, and then reject things that improve it.
The tax cuts for the rich do not. In addition to adding to the deficit, they do not stimulate the economy.

http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdocs/119xx/doc11986/hr4853.pdfThere is an exception in the statuatory PAYGO rules that exempted the middle class tax cuts.
