1. I think Feingold wants ALL the tax cuts to expire
Edited on Sat Dec-04-10 08:02 PM by PeaceNikki
As Overseas said here - Bush tax cuts led to Bush Crash. And were a GOP trap.

17. Agreed,
And it gives the lie to the catfood commission. If either party were serious about the defecit, one of the two parties would have seriously pushed to allow these tax cuts to expire. Neither party really wants that. Obviously, neither party is really concerned about the defecit. Make one wonder what the true goal of the catfood commission was.

thread because I would like to know that too. I hope it isn't one of those stupid arrangements where he did it as a statement knowing the bill was destined to lose anyway, because that is just stupid shit and if anybody has a real defense of it , well, let's hear it.

edited because i can't fucking spell, ever!

and by the way, this is the last time I'm gonna say why I edited my post.

8. thank you
is that the reason that Feingold is giving? If so, I can live with that. I didn't see where it said that was HIS reason.Maybe I've had too many winter ales. :)

13. Russ hasn't issued any press releases since the election,
which is odd. And sad. :(

But, given his history, this is a good educated guess.

7. More here

"The so-called 'middle class tax cut' that so many want to preserve are relatively inconsequential. I, for one, would have no problem with paying an extra couple hundred dollars in income taxes - you know, going back to the Clinton rates - to ensure that the uber rich pays hundreds of thousands more.

He's simply turing the Repug stand on its ear - instead of extending for some but not all, which the repugs say is unfair and anti-democratic, let them expire for all. Those at the bottom tier will no virtually no rise in taxes - between $1 and $50 for incomes under 20k. Once they are ALL expired, let the House GOP try to enact tax cuts for the uber-wealthy.

Feingold is simply standing by his Democratic principles - progressive taxation, and fiscal responsibility."

10. I think you would find it would cost you far more than a
couple hundred dollars unless you have a very low income and no children.

12. He sees it: THEIR carrot. Their GAME. Time for a change, put Us in the driver's seat
re the Deficit. Shore up investments in SHARED RESOURCES. If Tax Cuts were going to do what we want, why haven't they done it in all of this time when the financial sector was in better shape? Don't they have even more incentive now to screw us on this AGAIN?

Put the money back in the budget. Cash in the political capital later, for something better.

16. He is in favor of fiscal responsibility -no tax cuts as they are completely unfunded
And will equal the savings if the entire deficit commission was enacted - in other words you could cancel the tax cuts and forego the cuts in the deficit commission
