(CNN) - Republican Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal said that former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is "absolutely" qualified to run for president in 2012.

"I think it's up to her to make the case to voters," Jindal said Friday in an interview on Bloomberg TV’s "Political Capital with Al Hunt."

When asked about recent comments by MSNBC host Joe Scarborough, who said Republicans need to "man up" and acknowledge that Palin cannot be elected president, Jindal said members of the GOP establishment should not tell voters what to do.

"I don't like anybody - whether it's the Republican establishment, D.C. insiders - trying to tell the Republican voters who their nominee should be," Jindal said. "I think there are several strong contenders. Governor Palin is one of them - there are many others."

The two-term Louisiana governor said he's "biased" toward governors, those that have run organizations and executives "who've had to balance budgets, make tough choices."
