"lots" of secret BP data" - Assange
Having laid waste to the internal security of the Pentagon and State Department*, WikiLeaks and its founder, Julian Assange, now turn their attentions and hacking skills to our corporate overlords. Now that's entertainment. In addition to a reputedly enormous amount of Bank of America data (I hope they sink them, having a deep, personal grudge), Assange has confirmed that they have also acquired a great deal of weathered oil dirt on BP.

Another controversial Euro-American corporate giant also has reason to fear.

BP p.l.c., an English company whose largest division is in the U.S., is reportedly also to be targeting by Mr. Assange's information attacks. He claimed in the Forbes interview to have "lots" of secret BP data, and was merely trying to verify if it was all unique and unreleased.

One has to wonder, though, if the public may be somewhat apathetic to a BP leak after how much the company was lashed in the media following its notorious oil spill. Nonetheless, the threat dropped BP shares down 2.5 percent on Monday, following the announcement (share prices have since risen back to around their previous trading levels).

5. The Gulf is not even close to being cleaned
Edited on Sun Dec-05-10 12:37 PM by Angry Dragon
Oil still on beaches, oil still floating onto land, they are still spraying Corexit, a sub just found a large portion of the seabed dead, large areas still closed to fishing, Feinstein(sp) still dragging his feet to pay people, people out of work, people getting sick.

The Gulf will live with the Ecocide for generations. And our government helped cover it up. The masses are not important.

29. Good metaphor. See the bloodsucking Worm squirm as one shoe drops after another
Progressives tend to be too intellectually demanding. We need images that stick in people's heads to undo 70 years worth of relentless brainwashing by the CIA and its handmaidens.

22. Only complaint with your post is "turned his hacking skills"
He hasnt hacked anything. I know you know this from your posts, but it's important for the many here that want to see him dead that they have their info correct. Assange's computer ability has not been used to 'GET' info but to share it!

Cheers
Sandy

26. Just saw that. Someone is really, really scared of the people
finding out what they've been up to.

There was a street address at the link to Wikileaks yesterday in Australia. People should start sending cash. Or let someone else host the fund-raising for them.

The world really needs this organization. And the more they try to shut it down, the more obvious that becomes.

28. Couldnt agree more. This point of action he has taken has been a well
known one. I think the US would have done well to focus internally on how the info was leaked and to ignore Wikileaks as to chase them down like this makes them all look criminal and in collusion.

The US had a semi-decent excuse with the State Dept dump, heck they barely mentioned the Iraq War dump but OMG - mention a corporation/money and we're scrambling the military, reading correspondence of citizens, warning students to not posts or talk publicly about Wiki or their chances of getting a secure job drops (part true, but keep talking to make it so NO ONE would qualify IMHO) and generally making ourselves look like we really are a country run like the Mob.

Cheers
Sandy

30. The Swiss probably have an account with the Bank about to be
exposed by Wikileaks. The U.S. has been pressuring the Swiss since 9/11. This government is killing democracies everywhere and for some reason, most of them have yet to stand up to them. I hope all this brings about some changes, as the people of all the countries involved, get to see what their governments have been up to, and how little of it has been for their benefit.
