Thinking that the Wikileaks data will change anything or take anyone down is pure fantasy.
Eight years of the Bush administration performing shameless acts in plain sight changed nothing.

Wikileaks will amount to nothing.

The same politicians will still be in place. The same corporations will still pull the strings.

Idiots will continue to show up at the polls to stop progress.

But enjoy your fantasy.

1. Ah yes, so what are you doing to effect change?
I see: throwing stones at those who are at least trying.

5. Enjoy your cynicism. Wikileaks is a match to an awakening.
People around the world, to include many in the US, are outraged. True, the US media will water things down to the yawnable level but victims of US policy overseas won't.

HUH? What the fuck are you talking about? You have no idea what I think. Normally I ignore your posts because of the condescending apologetics. Please reciprocate the favor.

24. piut me on ignore then... PLEASE.
but truth be told all over Latin America there is this feeling of gringo go home... one that ebbs and flows, and did not start last week due to the leaks. Oh and it is not just Latin America. People have feared the US for DECADES... and the little respect that still existed is long gone.

Americans really do not know shit about what goes on OUTISDE their fucking borders. But if you bothered to read FOREIGN press you will quickly notice that the leaks confirmed rumors and suspicions. That is all.

Now a major bank has a better chance of doing really good damage.

People expect the institutions that are being called out by Assange to prosecute themselves and their stewards? Um, yeah.

22. it may not be very encouraging, but the OP has a point. If people
are expecting that the recent dump of these cable messages is going to bring about some great "change" in the state of the world, or correct the wrongs that have happened, I agree with the OP that they are likely going to be very disappointed.

There were enough FACTS out there and enough information available to have halted the illegal and immoral war against Iraq. Other governments stood against Bush as he pushed his agenda and got smeared, ridiculed and threatened by the last administration. Wikileaks can only leak information after the fact.

The decision to dump all the diplomatic cables really weakened and tainted the value that really DOES exist in some of what Wikileaks wants to do imo.

sometimes less IS more.

23. Information that exposes the corruption, and that aids in more accurately identifying the
parties or people who are the transgressors, is valuable. There is more information promised, and IMO, preemptively dismissing it is a mistake. You are correct that the release (and suppression by our MSM) of similarly damaging information has not effected the change that should have occurred.

My hope is that a broader audience is reached, and that the outcry is sustained to bring about justice and change. Otherwise, what is the point of pursuing a moral end at all?

BTW, the comment on childhood and adults in your profile, really hits home with me.

25. I think you will reconsider
If the insurance files get out. Assange doesnt strike me as a fool, and what he is doing is methodical and timely. Hillary talking shit or the fact that Saudi Arabia helps terrorists isnt exactly groundbreaking, I agree. But I would be willing to bet good money he does have things that are "game changers".
