I think I have an idea which the Repubs may compromise?
We will let the taxcuts expire on the poor and middle class and we will extend them for the wealthy. We cannot afford more unemployment so we will let those folks fend for themselves.

Also, we will cut all social programs to the bone. The old need to die and get out of the way.

We should look for a way to compromise with the Republicans. They are reasonable and compassionate people. We just need to go the extra step.

12. You could give them your firstborn and it wouldn't be enough
"And when you ask them how much should we give
Ooh, they only answer more, more, more..."

15. As far as I know, I'm free to respond to posts as I see fit
So long as I break no rules. Naturally, to respond to a post, I would first need to actually read it.

You're welcome, in any case.

7. It's not intended to function at the level of ideas.
It functions at the level of expressing exasperation.

13. But there are a set of assumptions that underpin the exasperation
Every bit of satire expresses a set of ideas. I think these are foolish.

19. They were meant to be foolish..
About as foolish as the Republican requests for compromise. And about as foolish as the Democrats that are about to go along with them.

It was not meant to be heavy satire.

But thanks for your comments.

21. What about Ops post
has not been either said by a republican or inferred?

The GOP's intent it out there and it is so repugnant that we have to add a bit of humor to it so we don't completely despair.

On the other hand, if you disagree and can provide the "compassionate" GOP PLAN - which they still refuse to discuss in any kind of detail - bring it on and show us how, EXACTLY, they are going to fix the economy/reduce the deficit, create jobs, and help the poor and sick.

And you can't repeat what they have done for the past 10 years because that didn't work, obviously.

9. Yes, everyone, please resign your job at 40
but before you do, make sure your foreign replacement is properly trained.

Just one of the many sensible good-faith gestures we can show to our overlords.

10. If the goal is to set up a 'society'
Edited on Sun Dec-05-10 01:33 PM by RandomThoughts
People with memories, they don't want around. Some of the political types allowed on TV and such are blank slates that they try to wipe, that never learned how to think and feel, or stopped doing those things.

That concept would not bother me if it could be fair, but guess what, they are old, they don't want the 'old' gone, they want only the 'old' that will join them and be controlled to be around.

Many of them are being managed by very 'old' things.

For a long time 'the scorching of the sky' to get rid of anything spiritual, and the removal of religion by changing it to concepts of material gain and other things, is to wipe out spiritual except their own.

But they operate in secrecy, here is the irony of it, rules applied back fixes all of that, hows that going to work out for them, also why it is by their own doing.

And why you don't have to fight them, just don't join them, and try to get as many out as you can, or comfort those in difficulty.

That does not mean you give into them either, or do what they say. Just don't be like them, if that is not who you want to be.

need to be completely eliminated.

It's easy to misunderestimate the comprehenibility of some esteemed readers.
