When corporations say "uncertainty"...it's code for "democracy" |
|
Edited on Sun Dec-05-10 07:05 PM by Ken Burch
They think it's unfair that there's still the theoretical possibility that the people, though elections, could actually dare to defy "their betters".
Their goal is to take us back to the 1880's, when the Democrats and Republicans agreed on EVERYTHING(except for the issues where the Democrats were to the RIGHT of the Republicans). To them, politics should simply be a polite debating club of the ruling classes, and no one else should expect to be considered human.
That's why NO Democrat should ever accept the "we have to remove the uncertainty" argument.

1. Good point and that issue has divided our nation since 1776 when Alexander Hamilton advocated a |
|
President and Senate for life to lead the ignorant masses who were unqualified to elect leaders to those offices.
Sadly that battle has never ceased and corporatist inexorably increase their strangle hold on our government of We the People.

2. John Jay, the first Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, expressed the "anti-uncertainty" creed: |
|
"The people who OWN the country ought to govern it".

4. Theodore Roosevelt said "'Behind the ostensible Government sits enthroned an invisible Government, |
|
owing no allegiance and acknowledging no responsibility to the people. To destroy this invisible Government, to dissolve the unholy alliance between corrupt business and corrupt politics, is the first task of the statesmanship of the day.... This country belongs to the people. Its resources, its business, its laws, its institutions, should be utilized, maintained, or altered in whatever manner will best promote the general interest.' This assertion is explicit. We say directly that 'the people' are absolutely to control in any way they see fit, the 'business' of the country."
We the People need a president like Teddy Roosevelt.

3. Anyone remember the cold war? Business semed to flourish during that period of uncertainty. |
|
We didn't know from one day to the next whether we were going to be nuked into oblivion or not, but today's business leaders are such cowards that they can't handle the little bit of uncertainty they face today? How pathetic is that?
