I am confused - doesn't the House have to approve tax cuts for millionaires? |
|
I know the House approved the tax cut for under 250,000 dollars, but don't they have to approve one for the top Americans as well for it to become law? I cannot imagine Pelosi doing that! I know the cowardly, corporate-owned Senators will do it, but the House??
Pelosi may be the only one with the courage to do the right thing.

2. If Senate passes a different version of same bill, it goes to committee |
|
Once in the committee, the members (who are from both the House and the Senate) hash out a compromise. At least, that's my understanding of the process.

4. No, the tax cut extension for the rich was ignored, therefore, it would have expired as planned |
|
and yes if they want to extend it for all, it would have to get voted on again.

5. Everyone gets a tax cut for the first $250,000, but the Republicans want to remove the ceiling |
|

Under the House version.
The Republicans want the wealthy to receive the same level of tax cuts, no matter how much they make next year, whether it is $2 million, $5 million, $1 billion, or $10 billion.
The Senate tried to raise the tax limit ceiling to $1 million on Saturday, but the Republicans killed that version as well. Pelosi will not agree to a tax cut ceiling above $250,000.

6. Both Houses are going to do the President's wishes |
|
If the President wants there to be tax cuts for the very wealthy, there will be. It is just that simple..

7. See, Pelosi won't be speaker in January. If she blocks it now, the Republican house will easily pass |
|
it, though we'll probably lose the extension of unemployment benefits and/or the additional Obama tax credits in the stimulus.
