1. Exactly
How can the Democrats not see how they are being set up?

7. Democrats did not sign on unless you consider Ben Nelson a Democrat
Those Bush* tax cuts were done through reconciliation and Dick Cheney had to cast the tie breaking vote..Democrats voted completely against them except for Ben Nelson...We can thank him for the mess we are now in..

3. Ayup
These people in the Democratic Party need to confess: are you complicit or hopelessly inept? Campaign finance reform is the only way to get our country back from the abyss. QED.

4. Fool the people is the game they play
It doesn't matter what Abe Lincoln said, all they have to do is fool some of the people all the time. We see happening right now because they aren't afraid of the people. It will take more than moaning and groaning on our part to make them fear the people. We're just not there yet.

6. and may never get there, given who owns media.
'They' play the game extremely well, and 'we' just don't play games. If we had a hugely 'loud' and charismatic spokesperson 24/7, we MIGHT be able to get 'there,' imo.

8. Yep, even a one day extension was going to make tax cuts for the wealthy permanent
And now we'll see them come up all the time, with Republicans wailing about the plight of the wealthy and how uncertain Paris Hilton is and how unfair it is to tax different Americans at different rates (and never a peep about the cap on social security earnings, or the capital gains tax rate - let alone the increasingly broad range of income that has become "capital gains") and you're all a bunch of socialists so nanny nanny boo boo, stick your head in doo-doo.

All because Democrats can't say, "Let's return to the tax rates we had when we were running budget surpluses." Nope, too obscure. Too nuanced. Not clear enough.
