1. Yes. You forgot one more thing.
The tax cuts expire in 2012, and they will nail the Dem's asses to the wall with it yet again.

Par for the course on the new DU.

The only thing you've lost is 'it'.

6. It's not fun at all
Obama should let it all expire, as it was intended. Or give in to the pukes again. Quelque.

8. He did, and the Republicans are extending them for the rich.
If the Repukes didn't exist (or played by the rules) there would be no extension for their filthy-rich base.

19. It's going to take Dems to pass the tax cuts for the rich.
The Republicans can not do it alone.

Obama will have to sign the law extending those tax cuts.

Yet we get to only blame the Republicans? :eyes:

23. He did what? Give in to the pukes?
He could just let them expire, but would rather extend them for the rich because the pukes say so? He has the ability to sit back and do NOTHING (except maybe veto any extension), but would rather cave? The DEMOCRATS are in charge until the expiration, so where is the problem?

What could they possibly hold over his head to make him cave? Somebody famous once said, "If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen." I recommend Obama listen to Mr. Franklin. Cheers.

27. There is no black mail issue here: Pukes keep crying about deficits
You can say they beat the hell out the Democratic Party this past election BECAUSE of this same issue...etc.

Then they say let's give the super rich, Paris Hilton, Warren Buffet, Bill Gates....etc. a big ass cut and ADD to the deficits for few more years, he says yes? Now they will be beating him up over this again in 2 years, where is the black mail? We need to raise more revenues to get our economy in shape, does he not know that? WTF is wrong with him?

He never said no, he does not call them out on it, he does not hold a presser on the front lawn to call them fucking hypocrites, he just says yes.

Overall, the little unemployment benefit extension he is getting is nothing, he can beat the fuck out them over it easily, he can say they want to fuck the poor and unemployed and add to the deficit by giving the super rich tax cuts, instead he does the opposite!!! He goes along with them.

WTF?

7. I hate all mother fuckers Republicans, but why would Obama agree to add
to the deficit? and get attacked for even larger deficits later on? Around election time in 2012?

This must be the most fucking stupidest ever decision I have ever seen anytime anywhere!

10.  why would Obama agree to add to the deficit?
1. START
2. Unemployment insurance
3. Tax cuts for the middle class

It's called compromise....if he gets all three of the above items, then I will understand why he gave in to tax cuts for the wealthy....

15. That's a very lame excuse.
Edited on Mon Dec-06-10 11:55 AM by Marr
Each of those issues is a political winner in itself. Obama would gain popularity by pushing for each one, and anyone opposing them would suffer politically for their opposition. You don't have to institute very unpopular policy to get something that's popular-- but Obama seems to trip all over himself at the opportunity to "compromise" on things like this.

Let's be honest. The party leadership has long been maneuvering itself into a position from which they can *claim* to have no choice but to extend tax cuts for the wealthy.

the guy without money to put food on the table for his wife and kids won't see it that way....you want Obama to fight and many others want help anyway they can get it, even if it means giving in to the rethugs on some issues.

9. It isn't Republican idiocy, it is simply the lack of a Democratic spine
If the Dems, Obama included, had actually stood up and fought a couple of times, say over the tax cuts in the stimulus bill, or the over the public option, the 'Pugs would have backed down and not been emboldened to continue their grasping demands while they were in the minority. Instead, the Dems caved again and again, the 'Pugs got more and more demanding, and here we are now, caving to receive some short term gain in exchange for long term pain.

The American people elected Dems to fight for them in '08. That simply hasn't happened.

5. deficit commission
In a deficit commission meeting that is available for reading on the whitehouse website the commission was intent on using the money saved from not extending the cuts for the top bracket on expanding numerous social and stimulus programs. There is no intention of using the savings to reduce the deficit.

30. Total fail. The deficit commission proposed further cuts to the top rate AND cuts to social programs
You're correct it's not about reducing the deficit. It is about funneling more money to the top.

What? You thought we hadn't read it?
