As of right now, Obama has not made a final decision on the tax cuts.
Everyone, including me, is bemoaning his caving to Republican blackmail but I realized that it's not over yet.

There is still a possibility that he will pull a surprise out of the hat.

God, I hope so. If he makes the weak, short term decision, I think he will lose most of his supporters and probably 2012.

If he, unexpectedly, makes the hard but correct and honest decision, he will prove that he is the president that we voted for.

It's not over yet.

Let's hope.

7. I don't believe that is true, I just think he hasn't made his final decision public yet.
They're still in the process of negotiating how much they're going to cave, so no official announcement has been made, but I believe the decision has already been made to be "bipartisan" (cave).

9. If he gives an inch the Repubs will take a mile. It seems
the Republicans always get what they want but citizens don't. If the ultrarich get their "tax breaks" again Obama can write off any judge he wants to appoint. In fact he can probably write off any consquential ideas he wants to implement. The Democrats in the House and Senate who abandon him are saying they do not give a hoot about the rest of us. I am about ready to give up and I have been an Obama supporter for a long time.

10. Thank you for posting this. I'm still hoping, too, for a surprise move.
My hope is that Obama is being underestimated.

15. This is a difficult decision for me
I really want the 99'rs to receive benefits - I don't want the rich to get their tax break but the 99's are more important to me.

17. The deal does not include anything for the 99'ers. The deal is for unemployment extensions.
This is for Tier 1, 2, 3, and 4.

There is absolutely nothing for 99'ers. They will get nothing as nothing has even been proposed for them.

Hope this bit of info helps you firmly give up on the tax cuts for the wealthy.
