Since we can no longer support Obama, let's support a Republican president
President Eisenhower On The Military-Industrial Complex

"We annually spend on military security more than the net income of all United States corporations.

This conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience. The total influence – economic, political, even spiritual – is felt in every city, every Statehouse, every office of the Federal government. We recognize the imperative need for this development. Yet we must not fail to comprehend its grave implications. Our toil, resources and livelihood are all involved; so is the very structure of our society.

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.

We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together."

2. At least you're coming right out and saying it. That's more than can be said for some others, who

still actually pretend that some non-Democratic leftist will actually ever be President in the next 1000 years.

Though you shouldn't think that Republicans will ever again nominate someone like Eisenhower.

5. Neither will Democrats, I'm afraid.
There's not much going on in the party which shows me otherwise.

18. If you think Democrat6s are ever going to have another chance at anything other than dog catcher
then I believe you live in La La land. Obama and the current crop of elected Democrats have pretty much put a kabosh on any ever getting elected again. What is the point, They just do what Republicans tell them anyway?

He called it.

I read, dunno if it's true, that he originally had "congressional" in the MIC statement, but took it out prior to the speech. Also prophetic.

11. It's true.
You should watch the documentary "Why We Fight," it explains why he removed it from the speech.

7. It might work for you but it won't for me. Politics is more than two choices.
The Military Industrial Complex has been strengthened by Obama. Who was it again who went to the land of Gandhi and made the 6th largest arms deal in world history?

Who is it again who reathorized the Patriot Act? Who escalated the wars? Who stored cluster bombs on British soil and then bombed Yemeni kids with them? Drones in Pakistan?

I'm sorry Jeffersons Ghost but Obama's actions are precisely what Eisenhower warned us about.

him eat his own campaign promise.

He has never been given a break - not from day one.
