I was not going to get hurt if republicans would have continued to stop unemployment extensions, and I would not have been hurt if taxes did go up next year because all the tax cuts expired. I wish he had stood his ground, but I also am glad that there "WILL" be extensions for the millions that lost, or will lose their unemployment benefits, and I am glad that for those who would have been hurt if their taxes had gone up next year. I am sure that if I had been in one of these two groups I may have seen things from a different light. It's easy when I know I am not going to be unemployed, own my own business which is doing well, and that a tax increase would not hurt me financially to say "be tough Mr. President and stand your ground"!
I know many here are really upset, and I understand that, but how many here who wished the president had stood his ground and not caved in are unemployed, or would be financially hurt if their taxes had gone up next year?
I also wonder how many here who are upset still understand why it was done and feel that at least the president got things in this compromise that "WILL" help millions of people who may have been hurt if he had stood his ground?
What I really worry about is the fact that this same issue will come up again in two years, an election year, and will once again be used for political gain. Sadly I fear the democrats in congress will fold once again on this and be to afraid to fight it "BEFORE" the elections like they did this year. As someone has already pointed out on another thread, everybody knew this issue was going to come up, and it should have been taken on much earlier so they did not have to go through all the BS from the republicans.

1. I admit to being very snarky in general on this but I too am glad that |

those unemployed will not have to suffer without some kind of compensation coming in. The thought of all of those people, especially this time of year with nothing was very disturbing.

There are a lot more here who feel the same way, but some just don't want to admit it!

will receive help, wish the extension would be longer but at least help is on the way. I hope my brothers and sisters received some temporary help. We will keep fighting for you.
