7. Who I don't like are those fucked up Republicans.... |
|
but at least they didn't get to make their tax cuts permanent today, they didn't get to fuck over the unemployed for Christmas, and they were unable to stop a 2% cut in working people's payroll taxes, and they weren't able to deny the middle class tax cuts and blame it on the President. They also can be shown as the hypocrites that they are, since indeed they don't give a shit about the deficit, the way the media has been working so hard all of these months, trying to make the general public think that they do.
So personally, I'm glad I demonize them freely and often, and can start working hard toward their demise in 2012. I know the media won't help me, and that many folks, including those who call themselves liberals, won't help me..... but there are enough folks of goodwill, who really are concerned about blaming and hunting down the right people......which ain't President Obama.
So yeah.....I like President Obama, and I can't stand those fucked up mean ass Republicans, who care about nothing but money and politics..... but never the people. NEVER!

we chose him to lead this country out of the morass of the bush years.
we want the leader we thought we were electing. it is not acceptable to say at least he`s better than the other guy.

Edited on Tue Dec-07-10 01:26 AM by Newsjock
I want a president who gets good stuff done and makes the tough decisions.
He's the president, not a Facebook page.

17. I don't, but I'm starting to sympathize more with those who do. |
|
Front page looks more like a Republican site than a liberal one, even if at least some of those complaining are doing so in the Democratic Party's name. Those who think Obama has done some spectacular job so far are deluded, but they are starting to look less deluded than those who are trying to outdo each other in how hard they can bash Obama, or how strongly they can denounce him.
I have no idea what any of us are doing here anymore. Used to be I'd come here to hear facts, good arguments, some motivational pep talks, and some good criticisms of politicians working against us--in either party. I can't remember the last factual argument I read. There was a headliner thread yesterday from a crackpot conspiracy theorist claiming the Gulf of Mexico was dead, and despite being a completely transparent and factless article, it made the front page with hardly a criticism. And it now seems like a reef of sanity compared to the Latest Page at the moment. My own belief is that there are a lot of Republicans and Libertarians here trying to pied piper us over a cliff, but not enough of them are Republicans or Libertarians.
Crazy place. I'm actually finding more reasonable and balanced arguments on sports pages discussing who should be the next coach of the Cowboys. Wade Phillips is getting more rational discussion than Obama, and he had a worse year. Go figure.
Oh well. It's not the first DU meltdown, it won't be the last.

DU used to be a cool place because it wasn't well known. In the early 2000s the political mojo was with the conservatives. As a result, all the wackaloons who come to sites just to be part of the "in crowd" were all on the rightwing sites. When the political consensus of the country shifted leftward, the wackaloons followed.

We also became big enough that wackos from other political persuasions noticed and thought it worthwhile to infiltrate. Back in the day we all knew each other more, and it was easier to keep track of newcomers and get a feel for them. Now I can post for days on end and not recognize half the people who respond, so it's harder to recognize patterns. Size also gives people anonymity, so they can be ruder without feeling like they know the other posters. Remember when Newyawker would welcome all newcomers personally and keep track of everyone's milestones?
Some of the size came from the Democratic Party becoming more appealing, but some came from this site getting a reputation, and a lot of it came from the increased role of the Internet in people's lives. Discussion boards are just part of the culture now. Back then they were less mainstream.

31. My theory is that they were allowed here for too long and became cancer. |
|
I did an experiment once and started looking up random profiles by plugging random numbers into the user profile URL. I found that there are a huge number of people with under 100 posts. I wonder if there are a lot of people who think it's a waste of time and leave. At this point it might kill the board to do something about it, and it looks like the administrators have pretty much given up.

And I'm proud of him for accomplishing all that he has in such a short amount of time. Undoing all of the damage that AWOL Bush did will take a good 6 years or so. I just pray that President Obama gets a second term so that the economy can continue it's upward trend that he and Speaker Pelosi have set it on.
I've got your back, Mr. President!!
