The grace, dignity and strength of Elizabeth Edwards.
One could say that my admiration for John Edwards in the early days of his Presidential Campaign had more to do with Elizabeth than John himself.

This post isn't about John.

We all know what transpired after that - the unimaginable pain that she went through with quiet strength. She never wavered and she fought a valiant battle. Elizabeth is an inspiration to those who have difficulties and personal tragedies. Life isn't over until it's over, and even then, she will continue to be an inspiration to me. The lessons she has taught us are so valuable.

It makes me so angry to think of the children of a certain former governor after I think of the Edwards children. Cate, Emma Claire and Jack are going through the most difficult time imaginable. I have a tough time finding an ounce of pity for side show Carnies when they over-react to each percieved insult for their trashy antics. The difference in the lessons taught by these women to their children are obvious. Thank you, Elizabeth.

I end this early morning babble with a quote that Elizabeth posted after the 2004 Election. Those not on DU at the time can't fathom what a difficult day that was for so many of us. This quote brought me through those dark days. When she posted this, she had just learned of her diagnosis. She took the time to comfort US. That means so much.

"A little patience, and we shall see the reign of witches pass over, their spells dissolve, and the people, recovering their true sight, restore their government to its true principles. It is true that in the meantime we are suffering deeply in spirit, and incurring the horrors of a war and long oppressions of enormous public debt...If the game runs sometime against us at home, we must have patience till luck turns, and then we shall have an opportunity of winning back the principles we have lost, for this is a game where principles are at stake."

Her strength exerted to stay calm in front me both comforted me and scared me.

Elizabeth Edwards deserves so much praise for her strength, tenacity, and peace.
