I thought Rahm had left the WH. Who was the genius that thought this was a good deal?

The republicans get everything they could possibly want (was it really necessary to cave on the "death" tax Mr Prez? Really?) and we get to have this discussion all over again in 2 years time...

Oh joy...

There will be no further extension of unemployment benefits beyond 99 weeks..

5. Oh.
My.

God.

I didn't realize that. I'm appalled, I'm sickened, I feel betrayed. And I'm not even unemployed.

11. And then there are the truly long-term unemployed
who never even qualified for benefits as 99ers. They are the ones who are truly fucked.

And we avert our eyes from them refusing to even acknowledge their existence.

12. I see one every time I look in the mirror..
I must say it doesn't do much for my appearance/grooming, I don't much like looking in the mirror these days.

2. No worries. The mass hiring is about to start.
Edited on Tue Dec-07-10 10:25 AM by Mika
With all of the stimulating tax cuts, resolving the tax "uncertainty" for corporate America, and the 2% employer side SS reduction, the mass hirings will start in Jan.

:sarcasm: :puke:

4. Yes. It's almost as if this "compromise" had a poison pill embedded in it for the
House to latch onto so we could drag the kabuki out for another week or two, but I doubt they'll go to that much trouble.

7. And the sad thing is, Obama didn't have to give away anything
Pay for the UI extension out of unspent stimulus funds, and then dare the 'Pugs to block a middle class tax cut.

That's what makes all of this especially galling. But wait, it gets worse, McConnell is making noise about forcing Obama to pay for the UI extension out of. . .the unspent stimulus fund.

Obama, giving away this country in exchange for a handful of magical bipartisan beans:eyes:

9. Looks that way. Seems if one is going to give away the
farm, one might try for something for the poor and those on SS, but they don't seem to exist. But what the hell, the farm might be too much work. It's going to be a rough couple of more years.

10. He didn't give away the farm...he spent it all away.
He did a lot more spending than the Repubs did. His middle class tax cuts, unemployment extension and payroll tax holiday greatly exceed the top 2% cut.
