School toilet bans a health threat
SCHOOL rules banning children using toilets in class time threaten students' health and wellbeing, according to medical support groups.

Crohns and Colitis Australia, the national advocacy group for people living with these conditions, which leave sufferers often needing urgent toilet access, said punishing kids for toilet use could have disastrous consequences.

The Herald Sun revealed on Monday that a Melbourne private school punishes primary students with yard duty if they go to the toilet in class time.

Crohns and Colitis Australia said punishing children for toilet use could have disastrous consequences on their bodies and minds.

1. Nobody should "hold it" unless they need to
My uncle did massive damage to his kidneys pretty much by doing this.

2. it will backfire
My 1st grade teacher (bitch) would not let me use the bathroom and I wound up peeing all over the floor. I got in trouble for it.

I was reminded of that on my HS graduation day.

4. That's sadistic...
People who do these things to children should be punished.

An elementary school teacher of mine wouldn't acknowledge me to go vomit my unsettled school lunch, so up it came out all over my desk.

The denying of bodily functions, normal or not, is inhumane.

3. My middle school and high school had bathroom bans of a sort
Some teachers only allowed you x amount of bathroom visits during the semester.

It was just one of the many instances when they punished everyone for the mistakes of a few.
Some people took bathroom breaks as a pass to skip class, get on their cell phones, etc.

Of course if one had a doctor's note, one could go to the bathroom as much as they needed.

6. That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard.
The bans, not the article opposing them. We are not robots.

7. if you've ever known kids with cystic fibrosis,Crohn's or a GI infections-(Common with immigrants)
this is probably one of the most cruel things that can be done-a 5 minute "stretch" time in the middle of class might help.

sometimes,though...it just comes.Let the kid take care of business.
