...and wanting her to survive and prosper. But in response to the claim that miracles happen every day: no they don't. People die every day and Mrs. Edwards has had a longer and better run than many. Death is inevitable for all of us and we just have to accept that. My step-brother, age 36, was hit by a truck last weekend and killed. His funeral was today. When he was in surgery, his family was praying for a miracle too. Obviously, they didn't get one. No one does. I don't think this kind of false hope is helpful.

It's sad that this has happened and it looks like she's reached the end of her road...but there's not going to be a "miracle" here.
The cancer has invaded her bones and her liver. She herself seems ready to let go...not fight.
As far as hoping for a miracle goes...why is she more worthy of a miracle than some poor little kid who hasn't even begun to live...dying too soon from some horrible disease...
That is the cruelest thing of all about hoping for "miracles". It means that one person was somehow more worthy of a miracle than another.
