It's a Wonderful Life: December 2010 |
|
Mr. Potter gets huge tax breaks from the government and uses the extra money to contribute to a political campaign. His candidate wins, and the man rushes through legislation that enables Potter to enact a hostile takeover of George Bailey's Building and Loan. Mr. Potter promptly fires George.
George's many friends in Bedford Falls want to help him out, but they can barely afford to keep a roof over their families' heads and food on the table. Most are doing without heat this winter.
George and Mary lose their house to the bank owned by Mr. Potter. They find themselves sharing a one-bedroom shack with Uncle Billy. Eventually, the entire family is evicted for failure to pay rent. George and Mary pack up their few belongings and move away in hopes of a better life elsewhere. Uncle Billy, homeless, wanders the streets of Bedford Falls until one day his frozen corpse is discovered on the steps of Mr. Potter's bank.
Mr. Potter lobbies his pet congressman to propose legislation that would make homeless people illegal.
Meanwhile, Clarence dithers about in limbo, wingless and utterly lacking in direction.
The End.
