the only thing keeping me from deep depression is that next year will be worse |
|
Undoubtedly, next year will be worse for America and the world than this year is. More people will be poorer, and hungrier, and more ill, and more miserable than this year.
And so this season, when I am inclined to be anxious and afraid and think each week is the worst of all moneywise, I remember that next year is going to be worse so I had better not waste worries and precious energy on how bad things are for my little tribe and for so many others.
I'd better just consider what the squirrels are doing today and take that as a lesson.

Every time I get up a bit of hope that something will improve, I get another kick in the teeth.

2. I cannot imagine how that PREVENTS deep depression. |
|
For the life of me, I just don't get that. You are postponing REAL depression for when times are worse

5. Well I'm in it head-first. |

Time to head back to the doctor to find something which will help the anxiety attacks in the middle of the night.
There are kids to raise and a family to feed, and giving up is not an option for me.

6. Never use the phrase, "Well, it can't get any worse." |

This is the first time I've genuinely been afraid for this country and that includes the 1960's when the neighbors installed a bomb shelter.

Might as well be busy and thankful and as plucky as possible now, 'cuz next year we might be in worse circumstances.
I'm thinking of the London British in WW2. Industrious, stoic, determined, even as bombs were falling and neighbors dying.
Carry on. Okay, I will.

Never had any sort of mind-altering meds, either, aside from 1/4 vicodin for knee pain.
By the way, did you see the top article on the front page of The Oregonian today?

About the jobs outlook for Portland. Extremely grim. Portland is doing much worse than more than a hundred comparable cities wrt jobs.

13. Nothing new there. Oregon is always hard hit and slow to recover. We don't have a large population |
