Republican mantra: Tax cuts for the wealthy create jobs: |
Now is their chance to prove it. This will end the lie once and for all as if the Bush years didn't, still, most Americans don't get it. When elections heat up later we will ask loudly, WHERE ARE THE JOBS THAT YOUR TAX BREAK FOR THE WEALTHY CREATED?????? Is this what Obama is counting on? I think so. He will destroy the right with this in 2012 election.

1. No, "PERMANENT tax cuts for the wealthy create jobs" |
"Most businesses do long-term multi-year planning, so two years is not enough time to really plan ahead, so you may not see so many jobs... nope, probably not. Now, if they'd been made PERMANENT, well then you betcha, would be a bonanza of hiring and competing for talented US workers and unemployment would drop like a rock and wages would skyrocket. BUT, well, since it's only two years, it won't help. Thanks though for the tax break... might buy a new boat in the spring or maybe some real estate in Costa Rica, or expand a factory in Taiwan."

3. Yes! Except, well "permanent" is still sort of subject to change |
I mean, you just NEVER know when some future Congress will repeal those "permanent" tax cuts, and y'know, we just can't be absolutely 100% sure. So, let's wait another 100 years and see how things go.

6. No, BIGGER Permanent tax cuts for the rich, and subsidies and deregulation |
and removing social programs and ending abortion and anything resembling equal rights for non-heterosexuals and a combined church and state and lots of other things that we can blame the failure on

2. Gosh, if only we'd have thought of that as a campaign platform this year! |
I mean, it's not like those tax cuts have been in place for a decade already. Oh wait...

Obama did this so he could "get" the Republicans in 2012....
Obama based his compromise on a premise that is false. He's not playing chess he's playing tic-tac-toe.. and losing.

11. Americans generally have short memories |
Most of them have already forgot what they ate for dinner today.
Republicans realize this. Better believe that.

Let's just make the tax cuts permanent and get it over with.

14. No, they don't have to. They haven't had to for 30 years. |
No one will ever ask them to demonstrate results from their gifts to the rich, because the only ones in a position to ask that question are themselves rich.
