Did Obama sound more pissed at us than he did at the GOP? |
|
Edited on Tue Dec-07-10 09:53 PM by KansasVoter
I felt like he was madder at his progressive critics than he was at the GOP who forced him into this deal.
How is that even possible?

I haven't watched it on-line yet,but I'm absolutely SURE that Obama must said something to that effect! How am I so sure? I assume that all the Obama-bashing here on DU to be correct, and then reverse-engineer it all back to what Obama "must" have said! Can't beat scientific method!
Oh yes, almost forgot: :puke: :puke: :puke:

that indicate that since Obama is one of ours they're more pissed because they've had higher expectations. They know what to expect from the GOP, so it's just not the same.
I'm not sure what would be the best way to find this, but I'll keep you posted if I do.

People here HATE the GOP with a passion.
Why in the hell would anyone be pissed at Obama for caving to the GOP if they liked the GOP.
You are just making shit up.
Saying the GOP has balls is not saying you like them. Maybe just jealous of them!

I did not say that anyone on this board likes the GOP. Nowhere in my previous post did I say that.
What I said was that people seem to be more pissed at Obama than they are at the GOP.
It's like family. Your family can drive you absolutely crazy like no one else can. That doesn't mean that you actually prefer rapists and murderers. But it's tough for them to get under your skin the way your sister can.
The anger at Obama seems to be manifesting itself through a combination of frustration, helplessness and lack of achieving potential. It's really reaching fever pitch. While I haven't seen this many passionate posts about republicans in quite some time.

17. My guess, that is most likely incorrect, for the vast majority of DUers. |
|
It's just a guess, I don't empirically know that to be a fact.
While I am NOT "more pissed" at Obama than GOPers, I AM way past being over the "lesser of two evils" crap.
Obama has been a disappointment, and I never had too high of hopes for him to begin with.
I believe at this point that he is a typical, status quo, corporately controlled, business as usual, triangulating jellyfish of a politician.

and I just read this recently about prosecutors and defense attorneys: it's a version of "the bubble" and "Stockholm syndrome." They get inside that bubble or whatever, and start to see their "opposition" as being more on their team, than the principal, those they represent. They spend so much time with the opponent, and they are dealing with them, "hammering" things out...they become their partner, their interest group.
Hold his feet to the fire, I say. We'll see if it does any good.

14. In some ways, I'm more pissed at us than I am at them. |
|
Why? Because I expect them to be completely unreasonable and thick skulled about the world. But I expect a whole lot more from us. And from what I've seen from some of the left during this Presidency, I'm not so sure we are much more politically mature than they are, at least on the fringes. We might be right on the ideas, but we are just as childish and petulant about it as any tea bagger crying for their country back.

22. Actually i don't think he did, now it might be that i'm an outsider(being norwegian) |
|
But i think its more a case that some people on the left(especially at DU) pays more attention/feels the criticism a lot stronger then its meant, while halfway skimming over GOP criticism because that criticism is a 'DUH' thing and obvious to most of them.

25. When will the jobs come? |
|
If the President could have mentioned that he expected those millionares and especially the billionares to quickly create jobs they've been crying they couldn't create without knowing what their tax rates were going to be, it would have silenced some of my criticism.
Will the tax write offs for business equipment and modernization be just for companies within the physical 50 United States, or will US companies use these tax write offs for their foreign operations? The President didn't explain this one, and we know how outsourcing and offshoring has descimated this Country's employment.
If the President would have explained alittle more just exactly why he added the 2% Social Security reduction, and when and where the billions in the general fund this can be returned to the trust fund, it would have silenced some of my criticism. Will the employers contribution to the SS trust fund also be reduced by 2%? Knowing we've continually told SS is on such shakey ground in the near future, seems this was not an especially wise move.
If the President would have explained why it was necessary to enhance the inheritance tax and make it even sweeter than it already is, it may have silenced some of my criticism.
Since Republicans claimed and Mr. President, you compromised and agreed with them that keeping the taxes at their same rates was necessary for the economy and jobs to grow, when will the jobs come?
