It was an obvious swing to the left, and the Republicans were likely to shift left to survive... |

I remember hearing this shortly after the 2008 elections from several Dem and Progressive bloggers, talking heads and journalists.
The Dems had just slaughtered the rethugs in two consecutive elections, effectively reversing the power structure in Washington. The GOP seemed to be reeling with no direction and few if any real leaders or presidential hopefuls on the horizon. They had been clearly routed.
I remember listening/watching Thom Hartmann, Rachel Maddow and others lament that one party having so much power and the opposition party seeming to be in such disarray and weak was not particularly healthy for a two-party system and that it was likely that the rethugs were going to shift left since this was the obvious direction the country was swinging...otherwise they may just not survive or, at the least, be a minority for years to come.
Serious change was in the air...good change for all of us. A beginning of the reversal of so many years of failed conservative policies that was strangling the middle-class, destroying the environment and draining our treasury. Not to mention, a hopeful end to the horrible, illegal wars.
My, how things change...

2. If the polls are correct |

and people really are against alot of the agenda of the republicans, it possibly could swing back in our favor in 2012 but who the fuck knows anymore. Politics was complicated enough before its even worst now.

6. Hope you are right, Drale... |

But with whole power structure being effectively corrupt, I don't hold a lot of hope.

So much potential... serious changed was in the air. And Obama just let it blow away.
Obama has single-handedly resurrected the GOP.

That's crazy shit but that's what they say they are doing.
It's just so wrong.

I think Fox "News" and its closest friends helped ...
But yeah, mainly Obama.

10. So obvious that less than 20% of Dems saw it? |
|
I'm going to guess that those who saw this 'obvious swing to the left' are the same ones who now see President Obama overseeing the end of the country?
