Is it true about the unemployment extension ? |
|
That it is just a renewal of the bill that ran for 99 weeks, and is not an extension beyond that ? That the 2 million people "about" to lose their benefits before the December 7th sellout will still lose them come January ? That is not exactly what has been inferred all along with the extension talk. Someone tell me I am wrong please.

1. Sad to say, the Repubs hold the cards on this one |
|
The only way they would allow an Unemployment extension to pass (outside of this deal) is if a corresponding bill for spending cuts was passed that would "pay for" the Unemployement extension - and it would be iffy, even then.

2. The extension is for those not having yet exhausted their 99 weeks. |

If/when you reach 99 weeks, you will stop receiving UI benefits (varies a litle by state.) This extension is only for those unemployed less than 99 weeks.
Obama and the republicans are likely hoping that those unfortunate enough to still be unemployed after 99 weeks will simply 'disappear' off the U-3 and make even that fake figure look better.
