1. He won folks who would be paying 15% in taxes starting January, 5% off that bill.....
Edited on Wed Dec-08-10 03:32 AM by FrenchieCat
and he won 13 months of unemployment extension, when the Senate Democrats couldn't even get 7 months passed.

He got us a payroll tax discount, and odd thing is that folks liked the payroll tax holiday proposal earlier this year, but hate a 2% reduction now--figures.

The zero estate tax went from zero to 35%, and there's some additional business asset write offs for small business.

But everyone is mad, cause everyone's priority is the top two percent and what they'll get. That's our concern!!! Not what we got, but that someone else is gonna still get for two more years.

He should have gotten everything we wanted and then some! What was he thinking????
He should have understood that it was better for him to break his promise of NOT raising taxes on 98% of Americans who make under 250K, an allow everyone's taxes to go up in January if the Repukes didn't play.....so that the rich could be shown what it's like not to have money most won't ever miss, and to reduce a deficit that folks only give a shit about when it's convenient.

So he probably didn't win any votes....not because he shouldn't have,
but because he came across as "uppity in his tone" today when asked why
liberals are questioning whether he has any core values. Plus he compromised,
right before Christmas....and he should have waited till after Christmas!

7. Some one called him "uppity"?
You're using quotes, so I assume you have a link.

If not, maybe you should just cut that bullshit out.

9. I love your factual answer
as much as most will hate it later.

People here are in a white hot rage against the President and they have no idea why other than the lower tax cut for the rich was extended. Fuck the unemployed, fuck the middle class and fuck their own personal benefit, Obama betrayed them and caved to the republicans.

Answers like yours keep me hopeful for DU. Thanks for a rational pragmatic response.

16. All will now, considering that Liberals hate it!
They'll probably want to pass it just to ensure that Obama has
just that more trouble with his base.....who don't care about anything
other than the 2% of the population that will continue getting the same
tax cuts that they have been getting, and the Deficit.

18. No....the health care bill was something that they didn't want Obama to get credit for....
little did they know that some purists out there would still be feeling like
even one's child's life wasn't worth anything, unless we all got what we demanded.

so no, they held that child's life as hostage and voted against the health care bill,
and they still want to repeal it, but they still lost!
Thank goodness!

Quit Your Damn Whining, Democrats, and Help The President Fight!
The Extreme Liberal
12/7/10

Nicole at Political Ruminations has a post up that gives some perspective to the deal the President just struck with the Evil Party. It has to suck to be in a Whitehouse that has no one to cover their backs, no one to help you put up the good fight against the lockstep Evil Party, no one to help you sway public opinion, no one to help explain nuance….but a whole hell of a lot of people who point fingers at you, call you names, are impatient and lazy and who are still bitter that an unknown black guy swooped in and won the presidency. From ABC, courtesy of Nicole…

“We wanted a fight, the House didn’t throw a punch,” a senior White House official tells ABC News, pointing out that for months before the 2010 midterm elections, President Obama was making the case against the Bush tax cuts for wealthier Americans. “The House wouldn’t vote before the Senate, and the Senate was afraid they’d lose a vote on it.” (Emphasis mine.)

“It was like the Jets versus Sharks except there weren’t any Jets,” the official said. “Senator Schumer says he wants a fight? He couldn’t hold his caucus together.”

“This isn’t a debate in a lab somewhere,” the official continued. “People’s taxes were going to go up, and then we were going to have a Senate with a slimmer margin and House under Republican control.”

Another senior White House official said that under the new Congress, it was likely all the White House would have been able to get as a concession was maybe seven months of extended unemployment insurance, as opposed to the current deal — with a payroll tax reduction, business write-offs for investments, and continued child and college tuition tax credits.

26. everyone is mad because, as usual, Obama did not fight for his promises - only capitulated
In Sept, even boner would have supported the expiration of cuts for the wealthy.

I think he did secure a few more votes - from Repubs who have figured out how much more they can gain with him in office.

13. Well, I guess if they are his, perhaps it will be easier to rescind them.....
Edited on Wed Dec-08-10 04:09 AM by FrenchieCat
Perhaps we can start having his back, and making sure that in election 2012,
we replace those who only would support those parts of the Obama tax cuts for that is for the rich......

while we should want to continue to support those who only want the Obama tax cuts to the 98% of the rest of us to stay put till we are out of the ditch that Republicans put us all in!
