I've called both of my senators, Durbin and Kirk this morning. I know Durbin is voting for repeal. Kirk said he wanted to wait for the Pentagon study. Well, it's out. We'll see.

1. Were you able to talk to a real person in Kirk's office?

I tried several times yesterday, and got the "mailbox full" recording, which ticked me off enormously.

Today I simply got a voice mailbox, and left my message there. I am used to getting a staff person directly on the phone when I call a Senator. To exacerbate the situation, Kirk seems to have no operative Illinois office to call right now. That has to change.

2. Yes, I did. I called at 8:20 this morning.

I live in Chicago. I figured there should be someone in his Washington office at that time.

I do know what you mean about his office. I tried calling him right after he was sworn in and I couldn't get through.

3. Got the machine this morning (about 8:50 CST): maybe its a good thing.

Perhaps it means his lines are being flooded with people like ourselves calling.
