Belichick, Shanahan and Obama |
|
Thinking about a radio discussion this morning that I heard while driving in- 2 coaches, 2 problems, 2 different ways of handling them. Belichick had a problem with Randy Moss, so he trades him (and gets a draft pick in exchange), but keeps quiet about why and says nothing bad about Moss. Shanahan, on the other hand, has a problem with Albert Haynesworth, makes a long, protracted public fiasco over it and eventually suspends him for the rest of the season. Now it is unlikely that anyone will give him anything for Haynesworth, preferring to wait until he is inevitably cut. Who handled the situation better?
Yesterday Obama goes on a rampage during his presser, lambasting the purists" for not supporting his compromising. This isn't the first time his administration has complained about the laft wing of the party. But what good is this going to do him- and would he have been better off keeping his mouth shut? After all, he can't cut or trade us, and we will be here long after he is gone.

1. Weird how Obama seems so ready to criticize those that are in his base, and yet |
|

has nothing to say to those that would like to guarantee he is only a one-term President and have obstructed virtually every move he has tried to make..
Guess David Frum is right "The Republicans fear their base. The Democrats despise their base."

2. At least Republicans seem to understand that it's their base that supports them |
|
and is their foundation. Too often Democrats seem to have contempt for their base and take them for granted with the "where else can they go" attitude toward them.
I'm afraid that somebody, and the rest of us, are going to be in for a rude awakening and a big surprise in 2012.

4. It doesn't seem "weird" if you realize that Obama knows clearly |
|
who he is "working for" and who his opponents are. nt
