Probably plans to give it to one of his campaign boosters. Look, these private screeners have roots in some places that love secrecy. This is a terrible idea.


"The airport doesn't get involved at all," said Michael C. McCarron, spokesman for the San Francisco airport.

Other airports with private-screening contractors are smaller, such as Key West, Rochester, N.Y., Sioux Falls, S.D., Tupelo, Miss., and Gallup, N.M.

San Francisco's contract is with Winter Springs-based Covenant Aviation Security, while Kansas City's is with Cleveland-based First Line Transportation Security. Neither company responded to requests to discuss its deals or operations.

I wouldn't trust any private corporation, at this point. And mostly, when government goes bad, there's private interest involved. But atleast, the public has some control.

It has been easier to complain about publicly run facilities, than it is privately controlled ones.

Just try getting public records from a private company that takes on government tasks.

all you end up doing is getting no control, higher costs, less service, and
the government is still on the hook if something goes wrong.
And that means the taxpayers are still on the hook.
Look at the mercenary companies that are fighting our wars.
They have contracts that relieve them of all accountability.
