Tweety's Coverage Of Elizabeth Edwards - DISGUSTING
http://crooksandliars.com/nicole-belle/stay-classy-tweety-discussing-elizabe

Most people who met the late Elizabeth Edwards would describe her as fiercely intelligent, dynamic and the epitome of grace under pressure. She endured hardships that none of us would wish to deal with and had to do so under the unforgiving glare of the media spotlight. With her sad passing yesterday, the country lost a passionate advocate for universal health care. I personally would go so far as to say that much of my support for the John Edwards presidential candidacy in 2008 had to do with the appeal of getting Elizabeth Edwards as part of the package. Hell, if she had decided to be the candidate herself, I would have supported her.

Which is why I was ready to throw my shoe at Chris Matthews last night. A man who was not immune to the charms of Elizabeth Edwards, egregiously booked Mark Halperin to mark her passing.

Mark Halperin. Author of "Game Change". WTF???

"A very tough person" is what Halperin called her today, on "Hardball." When she was still with us, here's what the relentlessly smarmy Halperin wrote about Elizabeth Edwards:

What the world saw in Elizabeth: A valiant, determined, heroic every-woman. What the Edwards insiders saw: An abusive, intrusive, paranoid, condescending crazy-woman.

While usually careful to attribute the characterization to "insiders," Halperin's "Game Change" painted Edwards as, in Jason Linkins' words, "a shrill monster," guilty primarily of the crime of being intelligent and ambitious.

"The culture kicked Elizabeth Edwards when she was already down," Jonathan Alter just wrote at the Daily Beast.

And booking Halperin was just another kick. Note too, that the bulk of the airtime discussing her death, deals not with own achievements, her triumphs, her undeniable spirit, but of her husband's infidelity. All the things about Elizabeth that could be discussed, knowing her family is grieving and may actually be looking to see how this event is being covered in the media and what Matthews wants to talk about is the public humiliation she was subjected to as she fought cancer.

Really sensitive, Tweety. Way to honor a remarkable woman.

1. He was downright despicable yesterday -- he's like a lascivious old pervert
Forget the fact that the woman DIED -- let's talk about JE's wandering dick some more Tweety... :eyes:

He's the relative you hope does NOT show up at a family funeral.

2. They should have pulled Halperin from the program... that said...
it appears he was booked well before, as Tweety was taken by surprise at her passing, having been attending the memorial for Ted Sorenson.

But, yes, Halperin should have been removed from the program (rebooked-- if they must :eyes:) and Tweety should have gone solo to honor her or pulled in other MSNBC commentators to the discussion.

3. What poor judgment - He knew how hideous the things Halperin wrote were
He should have known better.

I don't know if it's that I have read few articles people who had just died recently , but I have been stunned at the lack of taste in many - especially a Time one, which I will link to. As a person far more sinned against than sinning, I can imagine why they felt the need to include details - some referencing Halperin in them. This really is not the time.

4. Matthews also could not call JE "good-looking" enough times. ;-)

5. He shouldn't do that, but she did put herself out there on the
campaign trail, knowing her husband was a cheating liar.

6. Joan Walsh took some shots at EE too.
I thought her comments were opportunistic and self-serving.

7. I don't give a damn how far Tweety seems to have moved...
He's about as big a republican hack as anyone on TV. He's playing for ratings and he could care less who it might hurt. I don't watch the slobbering son of a bitch.

8. How awful. Elizabeth hasn't even been buried yet.
Just who did he think would be interested in hearing that garbage when emotions about her loss are so high?

9. The most shallow and superificial National Political celebrity on television
Look in his eyes, there is NO SUBSTANCE there. Or so says the man who is more worried about quick one liners and tie color than substantive policy discussions.

Just an older, more bi-polar version of Tucker Carlson--say ole tactless, noisy routine.

10. The Beltway Fixation With Sex and Sexism...
This was yet another demonstration on the perverted fixation people like Tweety have with other people's libidos. He cut his chops as a big time "pundit" with his outrage of Bill Clinton and any time a Democrat is caught with their pen in someone elses ink he's on it like it will lead to the collapse of civilization as we know it. Must be some Catholic guilt in there.

Then there's his problem dealing with women in power...Hillary in particular but it extended to Elizabeth as well. Since they were outspoken then they surely must be a bitch. His sexism raises its head regularly. Ironically just watch him lather all over himself when he does something about Mooselini. He's not a cheerleader for her but he's definiately titlated by her. Now would he have the same opinion if she had a few more years, pounds and wrinkles?

Remember, the beltway is still a boy's club and noisy girls are annoying.

11. One thing that I picked up from that
Was that she wanted donations to the Wade Edwards Foundation that puts computers in schools with poor kids. No flowers, but donations for poor kids. A great woman. I have seen a few threads about donating for flowers for EE, I think we should donate to the foundation instead.
