Just got off the phone w/Maria Cantwell's DC office. They have a statement

the person answering the phone gives that she's in favor of middle class only tax extensions and it was brought up this weekend but didn't pass.

I said, well, I doubt they're going to get that through -- how does she stand on the current proposal Obama presented? She didn't know. So I said add my name to the NO column, I'm a constituent and I vote for her.

They answered on the first ring. I didn't like that because it means Washingtonians aren't contacting her.

Patty Murray's VM answered and I'll call back, but I have concerns about her vote because I'm thinking she'll feel she owes Obama for all the effort he and Biden took for her recent campaign.

Calling Inslee again.

And I'll call them again tomorrow and the next day until I hear what their stance is or until it comes up for a vote.

$900 B this will cost us over the next two years (just saw that on MSNBC) - What do we do then? Borrow more money from foreign countries?

1. Both my senators are non committal. I imagine Kerry will eventually vote yes because

of the unemployment benefits and middle class tax cuts, however, and because of what he said on MTP Sunday. Brown will do what his leadership will tell him to do (as always). At this point, his view is that he needs to study the bill.

I have not read anything about Ed Markey yet.

Between his loyalty to Obama and Biden and the fact that the deal contains the unemployment benefit, he will do what is needed. Of course, he may try to improve it in the meantime http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704447604576007603860192170.html.

7. Yeah, the lack of a definite answer concerns me. Maybe they're waiting until
they get the Biden pep talk, but I hope they stand firm.

13. Finally got through to Snowe. I left messages with all 3 about 3 items:
DADT, extending tax credits for renewable energy, and the millionaire's tax cut.

9. Seriously. I've been urging everybody to call their reps, but with who you've got,
I wouldn't even bother. I'm actually surprised that some Reps are against it since most of them are thrilled (which is chilling). nt

10. Mine are all Republican.
I expect that the GOP will assign a designated few (the minimum number required) to assure passage. The rest will be done by the Democrats so they can be blamed later on for the budget disaster it will create.

14. I can only assume. I have a blue dog. A lame duck blue dog, but a blue dog nonetheless.
He voted against the Health Insurance Bill.

15. I saw a Blue Dog on tv this morning and she was against it. That's been really
interesting about this -- those on both sides are voicing displeasure. I think the only ones who are sincerely happy with it are those Republicans who don't care what happens to the deficit because that will be more ammo to use against Obama in 2012.
